My first Al - Anon meeting tomorrow

I am scared, but tomorrow morning I go to my first face to face meeting at 10:30am.  It's called the "Women in Spirituality" group.  This is perfect because it is really close to my apartment, and I can walk over.  It is also an all women group, so I can better relate...

I am scared, but I am going to do it.  I will post the outcome of my first meeting... I have anxiety, but I want change... I have hope.  I don't have a babysitter, so I hope they won't reject me for bringing my daughter...sighblankstare

You know you can come to meetings here twice a day!  Different meetings have rules about childcare. You can call the al anon meeting information if you have looked it up on the web or the al anon number in the phone book where you are.

Good luck

Maresie

Good for you Jaysbaby!  I sure remember being scared to death to go into my first meeting.  The hardest part was walking in the door, once inside I knew I was right where I needed to be.  I was so grateful to have finally found people who understood exactly what I was going through.

I will keep you in my thoughts tomorrow and hope it is everything you hope it to be!

God Bless,

Greta

Jaysbaby CONGRATULATIONS on your decision. You will not be sorry that you have made this decision. You will find a group of people that will love you unconditionally and some are walking in the same shoes you are and others have walked in them and can offer a wealth of experience strength and hope. They will probably give you a newcomer's packet with tons of information and most all groups have a call list. Don't be hesitant to use that call list. So many don't and it is so much help when we just need to talk to someone who understands what we are going through.

I went to my first one nearly four years ago and have missed only a few since that first night either because I was out of town or too contageous to be around others. My Al-Anon meetings are at the top of my priority list and probably always will be.

Good for you !  Its a big step and its a great start !
Try not to be nervous.  I know that even after going to about 5 f2f, i'm still not "in the group" and feel kinda funny b/c everyone seems to know one another.  I know that in time, as I keep going, I will feel more comfortable so I have to start going again too, starting on Monday nite.
Also,  there are meetings here 2x / day as someone already said, and I usually go to the 9 pm meetings and I get a lot of info, caring, understanding, and support from the group.  They are very welcoming and if you just want to listen in, you can sign in and just listen and not post or share if you dont want to but its here for you !
I wish you luck..........I wish there was a meeting like the one you are going to around me.  I think the women/spirituality sounds great !

(((hugs)))

Good for you, Jaysbaby!!!  Taking this step is a HUGE step toward a brighter path!  I love to see it when people here put their fears aside and have the "Courage to Change"!  Awesome!

They will be just fine with your daughter in tow... as Group Rep for my home AFG, we have contemplated hiring babysitters, and have had members willing to "share" the meeting, by them watching the kids for the 1st half, etc... there are always solutions!

much love and happiness,
cj

Hi Jaysbaby,

I replied earlier to your post and am interested in hearing about how your first f2f meeting today went.  I hope everything went well and that you're glad that you finally went to a meeting.  I m  eager to hear all about it.
Can you post and let us know how the day went?

Thinking of  (((you)))
