on grief and gratitude - A Reason, A Season, A Lifetime

A Reason, A Season, A Lifetime

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do.

When someone is in your life for a reason, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support,to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.Sometimes they die.Sometimes they walk away.Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that the need has been met, the desire fulfilled; their work is done.

When people come into your life for a season, it is because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They may bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.Believe it!It is real! But, only for a season.

Lifetime relationships teach you lifetime lessons; those things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person/people (anyway); and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.

You should always thank whoever it was for being a part of your life for whatever Reason, Season or Lifetime.

Marie,

You are one of the people I really missed when I was locked out of the internet service and it is posts like that that make me realise why I missed you...I know that each time I come here I find some treasure.

This was precious today and made me realise that to lose someone that has become a friend, or an inspiration, may be just part of my journeying and that the moving on may not always be the loss or the rejection that I have perhaps thought it was in the past.

Thank you so very much Marie, you made me stop and rethink my perceptions here.

Priceless.

That touched me. Seems like people are coming and going in my life. Hard to say goodbye. Seems like some people are angry at me. I can now appreciate the lessons in negativity. These are the coping skills I have learned in Alanon.

In support,
Nancy

That was nice. It makes me think about the good I recieved from relationships gone sour. I never looked at these relationships as lessons, but your right, I did laugh for a time and grow along the way.

Thank you for your insight smile
