family weekend

My husband, our son and his child, and I spent Father's Day weekend in a condo on a lovely beach.  It was an attempt at celebrating a family holiday in a different way.  My son continues to grieve over his now two-year old divorce...something he did not want but couldn't stop.  His grief and depression exacerbates his alcohol use often, although he continues to work on it. He won't attend meetings, says that is not for him.  Sooo, we continue with the worry and trying to use the tools we know.  The weekend was pretty good with lots of playing and romping on beach and in pool with grandson.  He loves his Daddy passionately. They had their first fishing experience together; my son said "he is still too young" and he was right. But Dad's have to learn the hard way about having some experiences too early.  I am grateful that the two got to spend three nice days together and that we were able to share.
My husband is still pretty sick and the little trip was hard on him. Today I have my cancer checkup which causes much anxiety with each period that passes.  You always sit and worry: Is this the checkup that will reveal a recurrence or something new?  So I will be glad when I am finished with it all today, and am praying for good news.  I am glad to be back on this board and able to share since my period of technical difficulties, now solved!!

WOW Joy!  I detect a whole new you!  What a positive experience, and I am happy you took the time to tell us all about the beach weekend.

I am keeping you close today in my positive thoughts, and hope all tests are as positive as your little holiday with family.
