Gilmore Girls

so, I've watched this show from time to time and the relationship that Lauralei has with Rory, mother and daughter respectively, has been one I've often been jealous of. Here's why, Lauralei has this completely dysfunctional relationship with her own mother but she is a good mom in the show. Now, I know it's just a script but I ask myself all the time...Are there really people out there who can do that? That's my goal.

I loved that show. It was hilarious.

There were quite a few episodes where Loralei had freakouts as a Mom too. And then times when her Mom was really supportive an awesome for her.

What I got from the writers was that we all seem to have good and bad days as parents and as children.

I think the main thing is that - the balance is in the bottom line of it all - we can show our unconditional love to each other, admit our mistakes and still accept each other as we are - bumps, bruises and all.

At the end of the series - it seemed that was what the message was - acceptance and unconditional love.

Just my thoughts on it - We all keep trying to do the best we can with what we have and keep striving to learn and grow a little more each day.

HUGS,
Rita

I think Lorelai actually showed her daugher really dysfunctional relationships. She didn't have much tact when it came to her mother (which is a hard one I know). She had tremendously disastorous relationships with men.  She had a idyllic work life and I could never work out how she got funding for the inn.

I'm much more aware these days the more I go into my codependency the less idealize.  Idealizing is one way I got stuck with the A. Reality is painful but its reality the truth, the present, not wishing for something that isn't there.  I learned to live a lie as a child I don't live it anymore.
