If anyone saw my post about barking dog that is driving me insane someone suggested giving him peanut butter. I made the worlds thickest pb sandwich and thew it over fence. For about 90 seconds I had peace. Now he is at it again, not as loud or as much but still woofing about every 20 seconds, for about 10 seconds ugh!!!. So great idea, does work but he is one determined little hound. Buying earplugs today but that's gonna stink wearing those all day!!
Hi glad. I have done Basset Rescue for many years. Right now I have two. One is my very own Tavish who is my closest friend.
And there is Gracie who was my tenants and ended up here.
She is going to rescue as I am finished fixing other peoples screwing up animals.
Bassets are a hound, hounds are not meant to ever be alone. They are a very serious pack dog. Most dogs are,but some will tolerate humans as their pack.
Hounds will not. Is this dog alone? I can tell you the best thing to do is go to the meat dept.and get you some knucle and marrow bones. Then toss that over. Most often than not it works.
Are you friendly with this neighbor? Gracie was in my bunkhouse Glad, this morn as I was out doing chores. Honey she barked for HOURS. rrrrrr. I hvae two pot belied pigs in here,so she just stands there and barks at them. They are close to being deaf....
If you are friendly with them, go over and ask them if they realise their dog is barking constantly. do you like dogs?Maybe they would allow you to go visit it or bring it to your house, or take it for walks to wear it out.
There are collars that work great. When the dogs bark it sprays some citronella at them. It does not hurt them, they stop barking. You may want to tell them.
I took one stinky,skinny, poor Basset Kirby.When I got him home, he no longer had the collar on. I got him out of jail.OMG he looked at me and would not stop barking. I mean it. I called the hs and begged for the collar. They could hear him barking...
Happily I broke him of it,and Kirby ended up fat and beautiful.But would bite me if I pushedhim over so I had room on my bed or couch!!
If you talk to the dog during the day, it should help.No p butter does not work plus can make some animals very sick.Causes the big D.
You can get the collar at pet stores and feed stores.
HOpe it goes ok. Geez my neighbors gotta hate me..guineas, roosters,pigs,horse,dogs,cats llamas, bassets...

I don't know what neighbors are doing but dog is barking alot less! and I'm soooo happy. Yes I like dogs and kids.... but only very well behaved ones. I also have a very low tollerance for repetative noise. Try not to be rude about it as I know I am more sensitive to this than some. Anyway, don't mind when he barks some (he is a dog after all). Funny that you asked if I like dogs because I was just thinking how I would like to get one and then I thought It would be my luck he would bark all the time and then I would be the ones the neighbors complained about LOL!! Thanks for your responses-believe me if he starts up again like he was I will suggest the collar even though they just moved in. I won't hesitate!! I love my sleep at night and I work from home most days, so it was driving me nuts!!
