What a day!

Finally after many years of raising two daughters by myself, getting college classes in here and there where I could, today I took a campus tour of Hutchinson Community College and visited with the director of the Registered Health Information Technologist program.

I start classes June 2, and every single one of the required classes is available online, which saves me tons on gas (80 round trip per day). It also saves on my back with the degenerative disc disease. I have a very nice computer chair with lumbar support that Vocational-Rehabilitation purchased for me.

I went today with the understanding I would be completing an associate of applied science in medical information technology.

It turns out I am only 2-3 classes short (besides those already required that I will take) of being able to graduate with a double degree, the second being an associate of art which will allow me to transfer to a 4 year college should I decide to go for my bachelor's.

I grinned, and told her, let's do that double degree smile.gif

This has been a long time coming, 17 1/2 years of continuous clean time/sobriety, a lot of hard work, and I am so damned excited I am keeping a spatula in my back pocket should I decide to get down off the ceiling smile.gif

Congratulations!!!!! Tender,

I am just finishing two years (my Associates in Business) and must continue on for my Bachelors in Public Administration.  I also work full-time here so it's taking a little bit longer.

I am happy for you.  Good luck with classes,
Maria

WOW...great news!

I am delighted and it sounds like you have support in the Director too.

Go for it...you are so worth it. I can muster a cheer-leading group of at least three. My two little girls that I babysit and me with me there with the pom-poms cheering you on!
