I think I've finally figured out my "Home" group

Last night was yet another ACA meeting. And, as always, it was just so POWERFUL.

I love this group and the dynamic therein. I love that there are alcoholics in this group as well as us al-anoners. I love all the wealth of experience these people from both walks of life bring to each meeting. Every night I'm just blown away.

I told my sponsor last night that I think I'm going to dedicate the Monday ACA meeting as my "Home" group.

I might change my mind at some point in time and dedicate another one at another time. But this one speaks to me the most. I don't know if it's the content or just the people there participating that make me feel so at home, but it's just great. I'm glad I've finally found a place that I want to call "home".

And the funny thing is, is that the first time I went to this meeting, I thought to myself "Oooh no. I don't really belong here. This is for people who grew up with active addicts most of their childhood at the very least." But everything that is said there is stuff that I relate to. It was this group that got me to communicate with my mom and find out that she actively used drugs until I was about 2 years old.

This group is one of the main groups that really digs in and gets me to really LOOK at myself and understand why it is I react to things the way I do, where my compulsions come from, my self-esteem issues... everything. Because it takes me back to those important years of my life where I started to develop who I was - my childhood.

Whew.

Anyhow. Great group. Glad I'm calling it my home now.
