Making HP my parent/Thia ia WorkInProgress

so...I had a thought...I know HP loves me, looks out for me and gives me what I need when I need it. So......why then is it so much easier to focus on what my parents did to me or didn't do for me then it is to focus on how I know God is always with me and gives me what I need. Any thoughts?

IMO..Because we have been brought up to think that we are the sum of our past experiences.  What we ignore is our spirit, which is who we truly are.
People confuse the chatter in their mind with their spirit and listen to the wrong voice.

Aloha SeekingSerenity!!

I also accept Christy's response and have found it of value for me in recovery and I also offer that a solution comes from using acceptance of (life including the past) and grace giving (allowing others to be who they are/were) and believing that they did the best they could with what they had at that time, and forgiveness so that I can release the hold resentments have on my mind, body, spirit and emotions is what my HP/parent (interesting that you mentioned this) desires that I do.  I desire that I do this also because I am more happy for it and funny this is also what my HP wants for me.    Soooo cunning, powerful and baffling heh?

(((((hugs)))))smile
