Ever wonder if meetings work?

Went to a great f2f meeting today where I was given the opportunity to share what I felt. Tonight for the first time in several years I don't feel a terrible pain/ grief about my situation. I don't know if it will last as I am accoustomed to waking and going to sleep feeling like I need to "make a decision" take an action or do something to make it better, every single day, even wondered if I had some kind of mental problem because I could not stop. Which has cost me alot of happy thoughts and plans as my energies are taken up with this worry. But tonight I don't feel that way. Tonight I feel like someone is praying for me, like there is peace to be found regardless of my circumstances, like God loves me and is offering me hope. It feels really good. If I wake in the morning not trying to "think" of what I should do I will thank my Higher Power even more and go to another meeting tomorrow night! Just wanted to share how good it feels. Thank you

Sounds like it was a wonderful meeting--I am so glad that your serenity has followed you throughout the day!! I know that I can walk into a meeting so wound up that I don't know what to do or think about anything and that an hour later, I leave the room centered and at peace. Have a wonderful evening!!

Meetings always work for me. It doesn't matter what kind of a meeting, if I feel the need for a meething, which happens frequently, I get myself to one. There isn't always an Al-Anon meeting when I need one so I go to open AA and NA meetings. I have never been turned away and occasionally if I land at a closed meeting they have made it an open meeting so I could stay. I have yet to leave any meeting and not take home something useful for me.

I have had the stomach flu for two weeks now and missing meetings and church I'm going into withdrawals. smile.gif But at times like this is when I lean heavily on my daily readers.

Keep going to those f2f meetings they are vital in the recovery process.

Meetings are my meds. I cannot live without at least one meeting a week. I function best on 2-4 meetings per week. I have never ever regretted attending a meeting and I have always left with something really useful. That hour is the most efficient use of time and energy possible. I love walking in and I love walking out. I love being in them. I cannot say enough good things about meetings!! J.

I try to get to 3-4 meetings a week, but we only have 1 Al-Anon meeting that I can get to so I also go to open NA and AA. All of them are so important to me. I did have a really hard time with AA meetings when I was new to the program though. I would advise a newcomer to be cautious and not go to an AA meeting when overtired or emotional at first.

It wasn't them it was just that I was too raw at first. It took a few months for me to gain some serenity so I could deal with some of my resentments towards most A's. As I said, now I really miss when I can't get to some kind of meeting, whichever it happens to be.

Aloha Glad!!

You're feeling the beginning of the miracle!  I am so glad (actually you're glad but you get what I mean) for you.  Stick around and keep working the program as suggested and watch what comes after this.

(((((hugs)))))smile
