Thanks for all your responses to my post! I will end up keeping our kitty as long as I can. I just love her too much to give her up! My husband loves her, too, and would never want to give her up either. I hope I can take time outs more often and let her alone. I will be discussing anger issues with my counselor next week because I am under a doctor's care who is worried about me stuffing anger and taking it out on things--including the cat! I even call my mom names at times and went off on her because... well.... because of boundary issues and stuff! It is a long story but I just wanted to mention how much anger causes me to explode at times! I am doing far better than I was a few years ago when I ended up in the psych ward again because I just couldn't cope. Another long story.... I am a recovering member of Al-anon and I just keep coming back! I am so grateful and hopefully I will get over some of the things that get me down. Just knowing where my husband is and that he is doing better makes me feel better, too. I am still living apart from him but we are still working on getting back together. Sorry for changing the subject, I am very scatter-brained and easilly distracted! I am trying not to HALT too much but I am very weak and tired today because I think I have been burning the candle at both ends! Stay well everyone!
Your post has helped me a lot. My one remainin Siamese is crazy some days with nervous energy. She always was a nervous cat. My other cat who died suddenly Benny was grounding for her. The last thing I need is another car. I can barely cope with the animals I have. Some days I have to keep turning it over. She has nipped me quite a bit recently so I know she is in pain and grief.
I say prayers every day for her. I thank you for posting because I live in immense guilt about my animals. I really feel I failed them on many levels.
I am doing the steps with a new sponsor and that is helping, some days it is step one two three all day long.
Pipers Kitty and I are very glad that Spooky will be a part of your family. I suspect that Spooky knows you're going through a rough time. Maybe you both just need some time for each other. Nothing like getting on the floor and playing "Fling the Mousie!" to get you laughing. It also helps to get all that extra energy out of the kittie. We also play with the laser at night to tucker her out. Good luck. Love and blessings to you and your family. Pipers says "MEOW" to Spooky, reminding her to be a good girl.
Live strong, Karilynn & Pipers Kitty
