Old Business:
Chair Schedule
The chair schedule:Chair posted the current schedule. Changes to the schedule were discussed and the schedule was updated with a few revisions.
New Business:
Meeting protocol & Manners
Chair reminded those present that the online meetings here at Miracles in Progress are held with the same respect as Face To Face Meetings. Cross-Talking "interrupting another's share" is discouraged. Some other guidelines during the meetings, or meeting etiquette: 1) type ! to be called on 2) wait for the chairperson to give you the floor 3) it's ok to greet others as they get the f1oor 4) share 5-7 minutes on topic with a one minute warning 5) type done when done sharing 6) it's ok to thank others after they yield the floor. 7) It is NOT ok to talk during , use scripts during or directly respond to another's share!
The Chair then posted the MIP's guidelines for being a chairperson, which are located on MIP's web site and can be viewed by clicking or cutting and pasting the following link: http://www.12stepforums.net/or.html
A member wanted to remind the group that when no op is present in the room at meeting time and another member volunteers to chair the meeting that we should all be patient and encouraging with this person.
Member mentioned that while cross talking is not allowed, small signs of acknowledgment are acceptable...such as a smile or (((hug))).
Chair acknowledged this was acceptable and it is akin to the subtle interaction that occurs during face to face meetings...nodding, smiles, etc.
Other new business:
Chair suggested that newcomers to the chatroom try to pick different names than others present to avoid confusion.
Member asked about status of the "OP Message Board". No one present knew anything about this.
Another member stated we had some new ops in the group that have not been added to the op mailing list.
Chair said he would email John about message board and mailing list.
With no further business, the meeting closed with the alanon declaration!!!!!!
