Picture of My New Granddaughter

Here is Miss Delilah Paisley, born Nov. 26, 2007.  Three weeks early.  Weighing in at a whopping 4 lbs. 11 oz.  18.5 inches long.
She was born natural, I was standing by my daughter's left foot when she was born!  OMG!  First birth I had actually seen, and I was not wanting to be THAT close.  I was wanting to be at the head of the bed where I could talk to my daughter and encourage her, but too much stuff around the head of the bed, so I was stuck at the end.  OMG.  It was a miracle, but it was pretty weird to see all that.  And it was hard seeing my daughter in so much pain.

After a day back in the hospital for jaundice, she is doing great!  Her mommy is my only daughter who is 31, and I never thought she would give me a grandchild, even tho she is great with kids, she has 2 step sons, ages 13 and 14!  She has been married 3 years.
Needless to say, I am bursting with pride over my "two little girls"!
Sadly to say, tho, due to past conflicts with my AH (who is not her dad.  She hasn't seen him since she was 1 year old) she will not be bringing the baby to our house for Christmas.  Breaks my heart. cry All over some stupid mean words my AH said on the phone to my daughter when he was drunk, 2 years ago.  All over an incident between he and I that got blown all out of proportion and all kinds of crazy things came out of it.  Now he still blames my daughter for HIS mistakes, and SHE wants an apology from him.  It ain't gonna happen.  Well, it would be a miracle if it did. All that time and all that pain.  Anyway, I am dealing with it.
We (daughter and I) are taking baby to the mall to have her first Santa picture this morning.  biggrin
My AH has yet to meet his new step-granddaughter, but has asked for her picture to take to work and show off.  I was on the phone with him just seconds after the baby arrived, and he heard her cry.  He has been talking about my daughter, which is a big step.  He has barely uttered her name in almost 2 years.  They only live about 10 minutes from us, but he has not been invited to meet her, nor has he asked.  Makes me so sad to not be able to fully share this most magical time of my life with the man I love.  All due to that damn disease.  I hate it.
Blessings to you all.
Love in Recovery,
Becky1

What a beautiful little girl. Congratulations!!! Know it's hard having to deal with the "fallout" from the A and the disease. Hang in there.

Congratulations, Becky!

She's a cute little thing! Oh, and I bet she just smells so good!

Despite it all, I still believe in miracles. Heck, you've already had one. That little girl could very well be the pathway to peace. I know it is much more complicated than this, but I will pray that your daughter may come to see that her child deserves the precious gift of a grandpa, no matter what her own issues are, and that your husband may realize that an apology is a small price to pay for a relationship that sweet little thing.

It's wonderful that they live so close to you.

Blessings,
Lou

But for the grace of god. To me this means that the creator has many ways of giving us gifts. And this grandaughter is your gift. Guess what Becky? We are both grandmothers. My grandaughter was born November 24. The mother said that she didn't know who the father was - my son (the one in the military) or another man. My son was there during most of the pregnancy. The other man was there for the birth. The other man left for overseas duty and my son got to see the baby. So I get an e-mail pix of this precious baby that may be my first grandchild. I made a baby blanket in good faith. My son asked his dad to come for a visit. He has PTSD and all kinds of problems (plus this baby thing). So they all go to supper and the mother says that the doctor confirmed that the father of the baby is my son.

My AHsober (we have been separated for over 2 years - his choice) says on the phone "my grandaughter is beautiful". I say that must be my grandaughter too. How sad that we aren't both there to celebrate our miracle. The mother says that our family (my son's brothers, my mom) can see the baby. But she gives the impression that she is going to stay with the other guy.

Let's hope for a great holiday for all of us to share in the joy of our miracles.

In support,
Nancy
