I had already decided against gifts this year. I'm buying livestock in people's names. They're getting a picture of a critter given to someone whose life will be so much better for this. Just that decision has brought me such peace - now the benefits multiply as I have free time otherwise spent in the insanity of the present thing.
To top it off, my nephew called from the other side of the country to ask me to be his daughter's Godmother a couple of days before Christmas. I love this! I love this nephew and I love his little girl. Get this - I found a seat on the only airline that goes to his town, too.
Big smile here. As always, thanks for "listening". Jill
It is my experience that some of the things that we do that are totally revolutionary to our usual habits turn out to be the most unexpectedly and personally beneficial things possible.
Your actions in buying livestock for those less able is in keeping with the meaning of this season and shows deep love and care as taught by the person who's birthday we are celebrating at this time, which sadly seems to get totally lost in the commercalism of this time of year.
It is also mind boggling that we benefit in ways that are often most unexpected, which in your case is the priviledge of being asked to be a Godmother [in my opinion one of the most precious and honourable positions one can hold for you get to shape, and feed the spirituality of that child], and all this we can ponder with hindsight for the action we took that enabled the wonders of the benefits that we receive for our actions.
Not entering into the commercialism of this season, you are now able to go to that wonderful event and as a double whammy you found an airticket that you probably thought would be nigh impossible. How cool is THAT?
Bless you and I hope you have a beautiful time and experience as you share the love of your family too. Heartbroken.

ah Jill, isn't it great to have things to celebrate - what an honor to be chosen as Godmother, too.
I've heard of that where you buy critters in someone's name, neat idea
I am trying to simplify but mostly I have made a plan to make it a good day every day in December. Hasn't been all good but just choose to find some good in each day so I can focus on that.
So making it a good day....... by gosh or golly
hugs from ddub
