This may be a different mountian

(((((Friends))))))

I posted last week about The A in my life.  She had almost died from ingesting god knows how much alcohol.  She got out of hospital yesterday after 11 days.

She is attending meetings twice a day.  None of this is new.  I had a reply to my post from a lovely lady that stated I had been around this mountian many times before.  That is too true.

I am thinking that this may be a different mountian.  This girl is in debt up to ears, had no money for rent, no food etc, etc.  I believe her mom helped her out with some of the finances but there is no way on earth we could do it all.

My A went to a food bank today.  She did not rely on us to bail her.  This may seem small but is a huge step for her.  She is waiting on rehab and we are hoping that being pretty well dead has woken her up.

I thank you all for your replies.  I have not said much lately but have peeked in and want you to know I love you all.

Being close to death is surely a strong motivation to get serious. It is what finally turned the lights on for my husband. I think it scared him sober. That doesn't seem to work for everyone but we can hope.

Take of yourself :)

((((((Lilms))))),

Who knows the seed may be planted and that's a start. Here's hoping it continues to grow and flourish. Pipers says "Happy Meowdays" to her buddies! Love and blessings to you and your family.

Aloha Lilms...

As it is often said in the program, "Don't leave before the miracle happens."

THE most inspirational story of humility by a new comer into AA happens to be about my alcoholic whom I thought would N E V E R make the rooms of recovery.  But then "it's a God thing" right?  and I was wrong again right? and just when I think I see the picture the way I should I realize that my nose was too close to the canvas.  When I step back a few feet I get to see and understand more and I came to understand that many times my alcoholic made the decision to go into recovery and then made the decision to drink instead. Then she made the decision to go into recovery and went and then made the decision to continue drinking and then she made the decision to enter an inpatient recovery program at a local hospital and in the morning of the first day of the program they went to get her from her room so that she could start the recovery routine and found her sitting on the edge of her bed with a brown paper sack over her head.  When she was asked why she was wearing the brown paper sack over her head she replied, "Because I have come to understand that if I don't allow myself to be led blindly thru this program I will never get sober."   She kept that sack over her head for a week or so and the last time I heard she was still sober.  God she had a way of taking my breath away with what she could do.  I will never forget...ever and should I ever find the need I will also find my own sack.   It happens when it happens...sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly.

((((hugs)))) hmm
