Hubby passed this on to me. I'm sure in his mind he was thinking of his A-ism and the choices he's made, but if I'm being honest, I can see myself too. I thought It was a good message to share.
Imagine a Road
a Beautiful wide and straight Road of Gold
stretching as far as the eye can see
A Road that Feels-Good as you stand upon it,
ready to Journey Forwards
Imagine Traveling this Golden Road
and along the way,
you begin to encounter,
your Goals
your Wishes,
your Desires
and Dreams
You know This Golden Road will take you
to everywhere you want to go
and walking this Golden Road Feels-Wonderful
Now imagine there are many Paths
Branching OFF from your Beautiful Gold Road
Imagine you TURN OFF from The Golden Road
and you take a Dark an Narrow Path
this Path Feels-NOT-Good
this Path is NOT paved with Purpose and Joy and Positive Creation
it leads to Obstacles
You have to Fight your way
You are caught and scratched by the thorns of brambles
You are Tired of Walking
THIS
is what is happening every time you FIND EXCUSES
E.X.C.U.S.E.S
to leave your Golden Road
to leave GOOD FEELING behind
Every time you FIND AN EXCUSE
You have LEFT Your Golden Road
and you are NO Longer Heading Towards Your Biggest Dreams
or towards fulfillment of new Goals and Desires......
Because by FINDING EXCUSES
You are choosing the Dark, Narrow, Twisted Path
it is NOT enjoyable
and even WORSE it goes on eternally ever encountering obstacles
JUST
as Your Golden Road goes on eternally ever encountering your Desires and Dreams
EVERY SINGLE EXCUSE (NO MATTER HOW WELL JUSTIFIED AND PRACTISED;)
IS YOU TURNING FROM YOUR GOLDEN ROAD
AND TAKING THE PATH OF NON-FULFILLMENT
THE PATH OF LACK
EVERY EXCUSE!
EVERY AND ANY EXCUSE...... IS JUST THAT! AN EXCUSE! NOTHING MORE!
IT DOESNT MATTER HOW GREAT AN EXCUSE
IT IS NOTHING MORE THAN AN EXCUSE!
- My Boss is so Negative! (so I am not Happy)
THIS IS AN EXCUSE TO JUSTIFY LEAVING THE GOLDEN ROAD AND TURNING TOWARDS OBSTACLES AND UNHAPPINESS
- My Partner is so Negative! (so I am not Happy)
YOU ARE LEAVING YOUR GOLDEN ROAD, YOU ARE TURNING AWAY FROM THE PATH
THAT LEADS YOU TO YOUR DREAMS AND YOU ARE CHOOSING TO GO OFF AND GET TANGLED IN THE BRAMBLES!
- I am so tired of being Broke! (so I am not Happy)
OFF YOU GO INTO THE BRAMBLES!
- I am trying my best to be positive but everyone else makes it hard for me! (so I am not Happy, it's all their fault!)
OFF YOU GO INTO THOSE BRAMBLES!
- I wish (name) would just do what I say, but they don't! (so I am not Happy)
BYE BYE DREAMS, HELLO BRAMBLES!
- I am too fat! (so I am not happy)
I FEEL TERRIBLE GOING DOWN THIS NARROW DARK PATH, BUT I AM FAT SO I WILL THROW MYSELF INTO THE BRAMBLES AND SUFFER!
- I am unlucky! (so I am not happy)
YES! I SHALL LEAVE MY DREAMS BEHIND AND I SHALL DO WITHOUT THEM

I SHALL WALLOW IN THESE SWAMPS OF DESPAIR AND I SHALL NOT DO WHAT FEELS GOOD
I SHALL DO WHAT DOESN'T FEEL GOOD BECAUSE I AM JUSTIFIED TO DO SO!
- My doctor says I am sick, I believe him! (so I am not happy)
SO I SHALL SAY GOODBYE TO JOY AND I SHALL TRAVEL MY MISERABLE PATH UNTIL THIS SICKNESS FINISHES ME OFF!
RECOGNIZE RIGHT NOW

I shall complain about THIS
and I shall Excuse myself from Eternal Glory!
I shall really fight about THAT,
and so excuse myself from creating all those things I wish I had!
I shall be totally miserable,
and so EXCUSE myself from finding MY BLISS!
I don't have the car I want - THEREFORE I AM EXCUSED FROM LIFE
I don't have the body I want - THEREFORE I AM EXCUSED FROM BRILLIANCE
I don't have the job I want - THEREFORE I AM EXCUSED FROM MIRACLES

No EXCUSE no matter how good or brilliant or well planned or justified
IS WORTH IT
Because you merely end up walking the Path of Excuse
and NOT the Path of Greatness
Greatness is letting go of excuses
Greatness is allowing yourself to walk your Golden Road
Greatness is being a shining example to others
OF HOW EASY AND JOYOUS IT IS TO WALK THAT GOLDEN ROAD
Greatness comes as you walk in wonder ever forward

ever recieiving

ever JOYFUL
Forever NOT allowing EXCUSES (of any kind) to take you from THIS PATH OF ETERNAL EXPANSION AND JOY

If we think that miracles are normal, we will expect them. And expecting a miracle is the surest way to get one.
My kids's Dad ( I use that term because he was the sperm donor) is not paying child support once again. But that is not why we will be having problems have ends meet? No. It is me in my choice to spoil my children and think they have to have everything all the other kids have. It is my lack of sticking to a budget. It is my dependence on someone other than myself.
Yes it is true he is capable of working, no he didn't even buy them a birthday present, but that is his problem. My kids have food and they received more than they need from others in the family.
I got the best part of him, I got two great kids with compassion, with love in their hearts, even for a man that abandoms them financially and emotionally. One of them signed over one of their birthday checks to the church. How great is that? They both make financial commitments to the church and keep them.
I have a house that is just the right size for us, it is warm and cozy. We had a great time playing cards together a couple of times yesterday. He doesn't take advantage of just spending that time with them, that is his problem. And that time didn't cost me a dime. We were happy together with a free deck of cards.
They are great athletes at the begining of the season of their favorite sport. They are recognized all over town for their 9 years of dedication to wrestling. Not that they are the best, but that they have been dedicated to the program, not only to themselves, but to teaching the younger wrestlers.
They are half way through confirmation at the church and only 5 merit badges away from being Eagle scout eligible. A program designed to be completed by 18 and they are only 14.
What more can I ask for?..... me to shut up and get on with my life filled with good choices.

Julianne - It's best to move on. You cannot look back in anger in life. It's too short
It's not easy to step up and admit (without excuses..lol) It just all comes down to actions and reactions and if we are going to play the victim roll to people and circumstances, even if they are out of our control. We can always choose the high road instead of getting tripped up in the brambles. We might come out with a few battle scars, some scratches and bruises but we can all choose to dust off and do our best to stay on the road.
