THE SAME OLD STORY---WITH A TWIST

(((((Dear Friends))))

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Well today was a short work day for me as I work in retail.  The  A  was up early this morning and by the time I left for work at 8:00AM he was drunk. This has become a matter of course for thanksgiving, so I wasn't too surprised. I was at peace all day at work because I was trusting in HP, so I did not feel affected at all by his choosing to drink today. But this is where the twist comes in, I came home at 2:00 PM and found him SOBER!!

I must admit I was quite taken aback by this. As far as I know this is the first  holiday I can remember where I didn't have to deal with him being drunk. When I left for work, I just said goodbye without judgement,(thanks to HP) even though I knew he was wasted. I must say also, though this is the first holiday we have had since I started  Al-Anon.

Today is Thanksgiving, and for this Thanksgiving I am most thankful for my friends in Al-Anon and my MIP family.  I am also thankful that I can trust in my HP who gives me the wisdom to know when to speak and what to say when I speak.

We had our dinner at his brothers, and when my sister in law offered him a beer, he politely refused.  I once again made no judgement either way.

Who is this person? Do I know her? I guess she is me. While I am by no means a finished work, I sometimes am astonished by how far I have come.  Last year at this time I would have had a big blowout before work and would certainly have come home to a drunk husband, who would NEVER have refused a beer when it was offered to him.

Bless You All ((((Hugs)))
