Eating out of control

As many of you know, I had to put my precious Buster Cat down a week and a half ago ~ and it has been excruciatingly painful. My husband and I have been doing nothing but eating and crying and eating some more.

This past Wednesday we picked up his ashes - which in a weird sort of way was comforting - he was home. The urn is a nice oak box with a 4X5 area for his picture (we're still looking for the best picture).... anyway - we are doing better but still have our "buster moments"....

Then - this morning my car wouldn't turn over. We have a brand new battery and I didn't leave the lights on (this time!)... but nothing. Long story short... it was the starter so $500 later my car is okay. Trouble is ... we are living on just one income right now (mine) and we just don't have the money. We had to put it on the credit card.

So - we had a pasta binge for dinner. I can't speak for him but I know that I eat until it hurts. chew.gif

It just seems like no matter what we do we can't catch up with things. There is always some type of upset / chaos.  ugh.

Apparently - that is life. My concern is that I am choosing to eat my way through these situations. Which only makes me feel worse and eventually will cause me health problems.

I'm thinking about going to OA... does anybody have any thoughts about this? Have any of you done that program?

Thanks for your ESH!
Dee

I haven't but am beginning to think that it might not hurt.  I know they use the twelve steps, and the same meeting sturcture and underlying principles as alanon and AA.  If there are meetings nearby, it certainly can't hurt to check out a few - what's the worst that could happen?

I have not been to any face-to-face OA meetings but I have been to online meetings. They are very helpful. Starchat has a meeting called "The recovery group." They have meetings every three hours starting at 9 am.

Good luck,

SenoraBob
