My daughter in-law is home. We have had to jump through many hoops to get assitance with her perscriptions. One perscription is $1200!!! Her medicade did not follow her from GA because medicade is state...so no insurance (my son is union but his medical doesn't start for 30 or 60 days...I made lots of phone calls, one time on hold for 26 minutes. Washington has no emergancy medical assistance for adults!!! We did find a social worked at the hospital that got her approved for free perscriptions through the manufactor....she has an appointment next Monday in Seattle at the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Center. She was on the phone like me yesterday trying to find out about her SSI and medicaid.....it's just crazy. She is feeling somewhat better but her back is hurting from the coughing, and to get her healthy she NEEDS to cough... Now the 2 year old is sick too!!!! oh my....say a little prayer.... I am leaving this morning to go to the Oregon Coast until Friday!!! I need a break!! Hugs
Hi, I used to be a social worker in WA and they DO have medicaid for adults. You just have to bring in the hospital bills and apply for GAU. She should be able to get $350 a week. I know they give out medicaid and gau payments to addicts and I think as long as you can show that you are unable to work they will give it to you. Did you go to DSHS?
I went camping in Cannon beach once, it was awesome! I love the oregon coast and the giant rocks in the water but I so love the east coast and being able to actually GET IN the water and not freeze to death LOL.
Thanks for the update. I'm glad she's home. This insurance thing is so hard. When hubby had none we jumped through hoops too. Ask the hospital who the patient advocate is. By law they are required to have one. Hospital funding also might be a possibility for her. With hubby's foot surgery and his rehab we were sooo lucky that each hospital had some kind of funding. It's worth checking into too. It covered his blood work, his surgery etc. It took a great burden off of us. We still have to deal with the perscriptions, but every bit helps.
Enjoy your trip. Travel safe and hurry back to us. Love and blessings to you and your family.

If you have any questions about the process I have connections at our local DSHS, and there can't be much difference between our two counties, actually our to counties work together. So let me know if you need questions answered :).
Love ya lady, Mandy
