I've been watching tv since 8. All 3 shows have had drugs/alcohol story lines. Is this because of the writer's strike? Are they recruting alanon members to write the story lines?LOL! One was a dad trying to keep his sons from the lifestyle of drugs and gangs. The second one character found her husband's pill stash. Her reaction was so right on. And the 3rd, a father confronts another father about his son who is a drug addict. The one father wants the other to DO somethig about his son so that HIS daughter won't get hurt. The son's father says no, they have done everything. Given, taken, saved not saved. He said they were done and he hoped his daughter was smart enough to walk away. Father of the daughter just looked mad that father of the son wouldn't go DO something about the drug addict son. Yeah, been there, done that.
It's all so very real to me. How prevelent is this disease that it is comming out in entertainment? I've been in these rooms long enough to know I am not alone or unique in my experience of the disease. Just seems like they are portraying it so very realistically. Not just the fall down drunk in the gutter but the family and friends of the fall down drunk.
I've always thought I could write a soap opera based on my reality.......
