It's often easy to fall into that "pity party" about how life isn't fair to us, particularly regarding our circumstances around addictions, etc... I laughed today at this quote, and thought it might bring a few smiles to you as well.

i have to be so careful with this stuff. I could put up with all the stuff the A put on me for years because I expected so little. A lot of what Kim has been posting about being ripped off and her process with that has been with me. I expect very very very little. I put up with inhumane treatment and have little if any boundaries. My life these days is all about my boundaries. I avoid a lot of the people who live in the house where I live. they are totally enmeshed and acting out stuff. I dont' need to. I've been there done that. Yet at the same time that' so thorughly familiar to me. I am not sure how to go out and make new relaitonships I barely have time to breathe. So i feel like I am on a cusp of a lot of stuff, leaving one way of life to embrace another.
Great quote, Tom. Makes us see how rediculous our expectations can be.

Maybe it's all the fairy tales or sit coms affecting our developing awareness in childhood. "Be good so good will be done back to you."
Well, yeah, if the other party is NORMAL!! Even then, we are all human beings and fall short of our brothers and sisters at times.
I for one am a big sucker . . . people can and do trust me. It's how I thought everyone was . . . ummm, right?
The best part of the quote is "the bull". Bulls will charge a devout Hindu too. Addicts are addicts, and they do what addicts do.
For comfort, I remember then that addicts get what addicts get. No trust, no intimacy, no closeness . . . and then my heart melts a little, and I can let it go . . .
