I've been using java for chat here for a few years. Lately it caused me some pproblems. I had to download java again andnow the problems are worse. IF I try to enter the room does not fully load and I have to try agai. By that time I have a clone in the room.

SO i looked into mirc. I saw one site that said free to try and $20 to buy. I saw another tht had abotu 50 different versions I coudl download.

Please tell me th best place to download a free version and which version works best. I am not extremely computer savvy, so I hope it is easy to use.

I printed out th page where you told  us to type irc.chat4all.org...etc.  I saved that.

So please let me know the best and easiest way to download it.

I have Windows XP, if that maters.

you dont ever need to register really just wait for the nag screen to go away and then you can use it.

If this works...i have attached a file that has instructions on how to get mirc installed. This also has instructions on how to get set up to be an op (getting scripts etc.) but you can "take what you like and leave the rest" from it! smile

Just click on the "mirc.html" and read through the page.  It has a link to get mirc and then a little further down the "set up instructions" for mirc.

I havent done this in a while so I hope they are still current, but they should work!
