Writing (journaling and writing poetry) saved my life (and continues to do so)... I thought I'd share these two poems on the subject of fear and letting go
Living In Fear
It's like being at the top of the very highest roller coaster and you're about to drop... Heart racing Breath quickened Every muscle tense Holding on for dear life
It's like walking a tight rope across the Grand Canyon... All alone Scared Every move calculated and cautious Nothing - or no one - to hold on to Your only means of balance is your breath
It's like a tug of war...
Knowing one thing <>Yet feeling another Understanding <> Yet feeling confused Being strong <> Yet feeling weak Being safe <>Yet feeling vulnerable
Letting Go Holding on tightly - out of fear mostly
Breathing deeply - focusing keenly
It is all about control - the illusion of control
Holding on tightly my fingers lose their feeling I begin to lose my grip
The fear becomes more real as I cannot keep this up for long
My breathing becomes so deep that I forget to exhale
I lose my ability to focus and to control That which I am most afraid of...
I too am starting my 4th step fear inventory and just don't know where to begin. I look at the fears that control my life and don't even know when they began or what they are about. This is going to take a lot of introspection and new self knowledge. I'm already learning a lot.
