This past month has had so many highs and lows and thanks to this program, I've been able to process the lows and cherish and enjoy the highs. I haven't been able to respond as much to other's post (which I love to do to keep my 12th step work in progress).
Sadly enough, I had to put my 16 year old lab to sleep Bailey was one of the bright spots in my life. She loved me unconditionally. She was always glad to see me. She even loved me when I had to discipline her. She rarely spoke back and she's been with me for a long time of my life. She had been failing for over a year now and I don't regret the time we took with her to process this heart breaking decision.
As most of you know, I am still in college and working full-time. Just finished a calculus course (that almost kicked my butt) but I managed to pull off an A and have been able to keep my GPA at 4.0 thus far.
I also had interviewed for a new job and the long and short of it is that I got the job. It's a step into management and part of my career path on my way to becoming a Town Manager. What a lengthy and comprehensive interview process it was and fortunately my life was too busy to worry about whether I got the job or not (my HP looking out for me). I just kept putting one foot in front of the other.
And finally two of my three boys graduated. One from college, one from high school. This past Sunday we had a party for both of them so I had spent the last month helping my estranged transform a bachelor pad into a habitable place in order to host their party. The day dawned early and the party was a success. I am so proud of all of my children. My two graduates have worked so hard to accomplish their own successes. Being in college myself, I can appreciate how much work it is.
Other than that, you might find me on my quiet little deck eating bon bons all day ~ NOT. As they say in Alanon, "when I got busy, I got better" because being busy, I haven't had time to dwell on the things I cannot change.
Much love to you all and hope your 4th is a good one. Take a moment to thank a veteran. Maria
God bless your wonderful old lab. They are such faithful friends, and I believe the most important and loving gift we can give them is to end their suffering when the time comes. She will always keep a warm spot in your heart. Thanks for the picture of the two of you together.
YAY for the grads and your 4.0. I know it gets harder and harder to maintain that 4.0; I didn't do it myself - ended up undergrad school with a 3.82. It was Russian that finally got me. But, to this day I can ask the whereabouts of the restroom and the hotel!! I guess that's "C" work.
Have a happy 4th of July and come back when you can. Your posts are always so uplifting.
With great caring,
Diva

So good to hear from you! And what a blessing your lab was to you, I'm sure. I know the pain of putting your beloved pet out of their misery. I had to do that with my Rottie just a few years ago. She was about 11 and had cancer, and was literally on her death bed when we first found out about the cancer. I also had lost 3 cats (two never came home, another one was put to sleep because of failing health) within a 6-monthh time frame.
Congrats on your sons' accomplishments, and on yours too! Sounds like you are taking care of yourself.
Knowing and reading all you have been through the last month and the way you handle yourself through it all makes me so very very proud of you my friend.
You are a classy lady.
Have a wonderful 4th of July!!!!
And I know you aren't the kind of veteran you are refering too..hehe..but you are a veteran of this program, and I want to thank you for all the service you give and have given over the years. You have been there for so many people when they needed you. So Ms. Maria, I salute you!!
sweet (((maria))) i was wondering..i have missed you. So sorry for the loss of your furry companion. I know that kind of loss is never easy.
Congrats on school...wow..you are amazing. And on top of that 2 grads...I hope you are as proud of you as you are of your sons. What a blessing for them to see mom setting an example.
So, true when we get busy..we do get better. Have learned that lesson myself this past year.
You are an inspiration dear friend. I am grateful you are a friend....Keep taking care of you. love, rosie
Boy what a sexy Momma you are! Brains, loving heart, sexy too what more could anyone want? I've missed you dear friend. WOOHOO on your new job! WAY TO GO!
My condolences on Bailey. But she was lucky to have you as you were blessed by her. The thought of losing my Pipers Kitty would just tear me apart. The unconditional love of an animal when life is hard is a blessing beyond words. So I thank Miss Bailey for all the love and good memories she has shown you and your family.
CONGRATS TO BOTH GRADS AND MOMMA FOR GETTING A 4.0! Heck, congrats to Mom for staying sane with 3 boys and 3 graduation parties. I am completely impressed. I'm a nutcase just thinking about it!
Now go ahead and relax for a bit. You've worked really hard. You deserve some time to eat and and . Remember calories don't count on special occasions. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!
Live strong, Karilynn, Hubby and Pipers Kitty
