I'm new to this forum. I attended Al-Anon maybe 4 years ago since I was with someone in NA. The past few years I've been with my best friend who is also in NA. He has 2 daughters I love madly and who love me too. We're getting married in September. He had three years clean when we met...but he relapsed last May. It seems he's struggled since and just admitted to what extent and what he's done secretly since last year. At this moment, his guilt eats at him like the disease that causes it. He knows in his case, it's being clean or death, the loss of the life he loves....he is a wonderful man, father, friend and it's breaking my heart to see him struggle and see no worth in himself. He asked me to take his credit cards and handle his money for the next month. He's working and we have a plan. If the disease is still attacking strongly in a few weeks, he said he's going to rehab. So he's at a crossroads in his private war. He's at a meeting right now and I plan to go to Al-Anon Thursday. I think the wedding should be put off until next year. I want him to focus on himself. I'm sad, very sad.
