I haven't posted in a while. I had graduations and trips and changes. My oldest son in the military is still sick and just hanging on. Even in all of this I realize that he has to be in enough pain to ask for help. My mother went through surgery two weeks ago. She is elderly and has had a rough go. I spent a week at the hospital. Took a few breaks to go to Alanon meetings (alot more meetings then where I live). My AHsober made a few offers to help. I have to accept that that is all he has. My gift from my HP is my younger son coming home from college to work. It is so nice to have him around to help and for company. It makes me sad that his dad doesn't live here and that we aren't a family like we use to be. It is his loss though. I have had some great talks with my son. My second son is in between college and a job so he is coming home today. What a gift from my HP. I know that they are well on their way to their futures but I want to enjoy it while I can.
So what have I learned? Keep going to meetings. Going to see my mom today (two hours away). My Alanon skills have definitely helped me cope. There is another meeting that I can attend. I think that I am finally getting some of the Alanon message. This is about change and lifelong recovery.
So good to hear from you (((((Nancy))))) and good for you for letting yourself enjoy your time with your sons that will be home with you. I completely agree with you about getting to meetings. They are so helpful in keeping me balanced and especially for putting all the tough stuff in perspective.
(((((You))))) and your ((((((family)))))) are in my thoughts and prayers. Keep workin it!!! You are so worth it.
