So my mother in law called the other day she has been collecting unemployment for six months and her boyfriend who is addicted to oxycotton because of chronic pain from pancreitis(?) has had less and less work. He has worked hard for 30 years as a surveyor and usually makes over $25 an hr. She tells me on May 31, they laid him off (so no medical ins. on 6/1) he goes to the hospital several times a month for the pain has had shunts several times but they only work for a bit. Her unemployment ended the day before. I feel bad for them and their situation. I also feel like she brings a lot of things upon herself. She sent me an email yesterday saying she was very depressed and used the word suicidal. I'm not really sure what to do. I have tried not to involve myself in it and just sent some job links for surveying jobs (AH does the same work). I did say she could come stay if she had to but I think that wouldn't work for long. Anyway, just wanted to leave it all here. Everyone pray he'll find a job maybe that will work LOL!
It's so hard to watch people you care about going through hard times, when you are doing all you can and MORE to save your own family!
Just like you have to find your way through the mess of having an AH, so do your A's folks. They have an HP too :D . Hold them as able to take care of themselves, it's a gift of dignity for them.
Good job leaving it all here, Carolinagirl. By doing that, it seems to me that you've recognized that you're powerless over their situation. That's pretty heavy stuff for her to be leaving at your doorstep. Good thing you've got a good grip on things.
