Well..... it's be an interesting 36 hours to say the least. Is HP laughing at me?
Our railroad ties caught on fire so I came running home. We're fine. someone had thrown a cigarette butt down into it. It smoldered for several hours. A woman upstairs came in while hubby was sleeping to tell him what was going on and threw water on it. It could have been far worse. The outside wall could have caught on fire and I just refuse to dwell on the rest...... I didn't need to call the fire dept. Hubby got a lung full of smoke, but it cleared up after several hours. So no trip to the emergency room needed. Thank you!
Took the car in for inspection - catalytic converter is shot. There's $1600. So now we're scrambling to figure out how to pay the rent, the car and other bills etc. But again it could have been worse. Hubby saved $500 on an old hospital bill because he was covered. Then I got a $400 bill from my post biopsy checkup. Could have been worse again. The biopsy could have been malignant and I could have no insurance at all. I could have a not so understanding landlord, who would not let me pay it late. It's also a 3 paycheck month.
I went into work only to find that there were several complaints from customers that reached the corporate level. One of them happened to be the niece of the owner. Yikes! I accepted my responsiblity for it if it occured on my watch. But it turned out that it didn't. But as a dept. supervisor I still feel it's a reflection on me. Good part is that we can move ahead and hopefully change that perception.
I guess what I am trying to say is that we may come across a patch of really bumpy roads, but we can navigate through it. If I try and stay positive about all of this, it makes it less likely I will relapse in my recovery. Hubby is sober and recouperating well from his surgery. Almost off the pain meds!
What about the chipmunks you ask? Well Pipers Kitty has been on a roll bringing home chipmunks to play with. Yesterday I found just the tail on the patio and no other part of the corpse. My guess is that there is some poor chipmunk out there who has lost it's tail! What's so positive about that? Umm..... it can't loose it again?
Keep looking up and staying positive. That's all we can do. Have a wonderful weekend.
Love and blessings to all of you and your families and the MIP critters.
Live strong, Karilynn & Pipers Kitty

Thanks for that Karilynn!! It really is a choice you make, isn't it?? For me, it's a choice I make to stay FUNCTIONING. If I am so wrapped up in the dismal, who's going to "take care" of what needs caretaking?
I need to let go of expectations that things SHOULD be different, but how insane, they are the way they are. And it's true, your house could have been burned and damaged, your hubby with smoke inhalation on top of it all, and the rest of the squirrel beneath your bed saved for "later" :D by Miss Kitty. It always could be worse.
