As many of you know, years ago I had a grandson that died a tragic death. I won't go into it here for those of you that don't know, but will say that it was a senseless, horrible day for all of us that loved him. That was 18 years ago today. It's so hard to believe it has been that long. It seems like just yesterday some days and like another lifetime ago on other days. He was a beautiful 9 month old baby......so full of life and so loved. And he is missed and always will be.
The good news is........his mother, my daughter, is doing wonderfully and is a wonderful woman that has taught all that know her how you can come out of the darkness of tragedy and make life a better one. She has chosed to become better........not bitter........because of this experience and she is admired so much for that.......has touched so many lives in a positive way because of her attitude. What a wonderful gift that is for her and for us.
And more good news.........my son (recovering drug addict), has always had a terrible time on this day. He was just 14 years old when he lost his beloved nephew and he was touched by it deeply. I talked to him today and he sounds so healthy and like he has worked through so much of the pain of this event due to his recovery from drug addiction. He said it is still not easy, but he is doing well and life is so good.
I am sharing all of this with you, just to share that there is hope......there is light at the end of the tunnel. There is so much life to live, love to give and love to show in this life. Taking one day at a time is huge and we need to live each day to the fullest........and to work on being healthy...enjoying the gift our HP (God) has given us to enjoy.......... the gift of TODAY! We don't know what each day brings, but we can be sure that whatever it brings, God is in control.
So, dear friends, I just want you all to know that I am a better person for being a part of MIP and I am so thankful that I can come here and share, knowing I won't be judged in any way, but rather loved and cared for in so many ways. I appreciate the support I get here and I appreciate all of you that give it. I have so much to be thankful for. And on this memorial day.......for our country and for my family..........I just needed to be here with my friends for a few minutes and share what's in my heart.
Lexie, I hold you and your dear family in my heart today and every day. You are to be congratulated and emulated for your strength of spirit and your courage to go on in the face of your family's tragic experience. Thanks for sharing with us today. May many blessings and positive thoughts surround you.
With caring,
Diva

((((lexie)))) give your family a big hug, OK? I thought how strange it was that we both had such tragic happenings on the same day, so many years ago. The death of an innocent child is always the most horrible thing. I am honored to have met you here, dear friend. And you are so right, today IS a gift. Thanks for sharing. Love in Recovery, Becky1
It's so good to hear from you. I'm glad you're finding hope and strength through this program. It's also good to hear about your daughter and your son.
Thank you for sharing. It was 18 years ago that my mother died as well in her sleep with no warning to any of us. I, like you and your daughter, want to be better not bitter. I want to make my Mom proud of who I am.
So glad you posted.
Much love Lex, Maria

I too lost a nephew, he was 2 months old, died of a cot death....He also made an impact on our lives. I was 16 when he died. I still think about him all the time, love him, and wish he had lived. But I hear from so many people, God had his own plans for him....Who are we to dissagree with that...
Heres a big (((((((((((((((((((Hug)))))))))))))))) for you and all your family..
I'm so glad to know you, you have been inspirational to me so many times....And I thank you for that...
