I got an email from financial aid this morning. It said that they couldn't process my financial aid because they were unable to verify my "admissions status." Uhhhhh, okay. You're taking my money as if you're pretty sure, I thought. So, I start out by making a phone call to financial aid. Really nice financial aid lady: "You applied to grad school earlier this year?" Me: "Yes, I did. Unfortuneately, it doesn't look like I'll graduate this year to begin the program in the fall." Financial Aid lady: "Ahhhh okay. Because the computer thinks you're graduating in june. And it thinks you're going to grad school this fall. You'll need to talk to admissions. I can transfer you." I'm thinking, wait a minute, I was wait listed. I thought. I thought. Now I'm on the phone with student admissions. And I'm talking to an office person, filling them in. Really nice student worker, been there a while: "Hang on just a minute, let me get someone involved here that knows a little more about this system. Because I think I'm reading this wrong but I could be wrong." (on hold for a minute) "Okay, here's what happened. You were admitted to the grad school this fall. The computer is processing you're FAFSA as if you're a grad student even though you told it you were an undergrad. So the computer doesn't understand why you're not paying your fees and it thinks you're being a delinquent. So you're gonna have to work this out with the graduate affairs office." I got in! I got into grad school y'all!!!!
Wow I was so psyched! So I talked to the grad school affairs. They told me to send a letter saying a) I'm still an undergrad, slated to graduate NEXT YEAR; b) yes I realize that by sending this letter I'm not going to be in grad school in the fall; c) I am authorizing the office to pull my file, at least for the right now. Just thought some of y'all might want some good news. It made my day.
((tiger)) so happy for you..thank you for sharing the news with us. Feel like we have been on the journey with you :) Have a great weekend. your friend in recovery, rosie
