Rainy Jaime's post got me thinking about youtube clips and which one would fit me. Mine would have to be the scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I am the knight who gets all his limbs severed and keeps going back for more..."tis just a flesh wound"
LOL! I think the scene in QUICK CHANGE where the homeless guy with the guitar stapped sideways to his back tries repeatedly to get on the bus but the guitar won't fit thru the door so he keeps getting knocked back. And everyone on the bus is just staring at him until finally the bus driver says "Ok that's enough" and shuts the door. Oh gosh, I'm crackin up! That is so me! I just keep trying! No matter who is watching or waiting, never even realizing that if I just turned sideways, I'd fit! OK I bet no one found that as hysterical as I did. I used to rewind that scene over and over and just cry I'd laugh so hard.....
Julia Roberts as Erin Brockovich in the movie that came out in 2000. I especially relate to the scene where she has lost her job and comes home to bills, kids screaming and boyfriend under broken sink and she starts trying to kill cockroaches with her high heels! Now there's a picture!
I also relate to her stubborness and determination to succeed no matter what gets in her way. Unfortunately I can also relate to her poor choices in husband's, and letting decent boyfriends get away.
Unfortunately I don't relate to her figure or good looks......or cleavage! lol
What a great idea ((((confused))))). To bring some comedy to us alanoners who repeatedly keep trying, no matter what the circumstances, to change things. Well you have monty python stuck in my head , so I will have to say the episode where the guy goes to the cheese store, and continually keeps asking for every flavor of cheese you can imagine and the clerk says No, he doesnt have it in stock. And repeatedly he asks time and time again "This is a cheese store isnt it?", and the clerk answers yes....That was me keep asking no matter what, looking for the right answer that would suit my needs from an A who could not give me what I needed. LOL, what an analagy of my life in those days! Thanks for the laugh!
"What About Bob?" ... Bill Murray as multi-phobic but in the pursuit of his desire for healing able to take one babystep after another -- while driving other people crazy OR endearing himself to people.
Some people I drive crazy; most people find me endearing (at least in small doses lol!!!). I definitely struggle more than it looks like from the outside, just to do "ordinary" things. The more I am willing to be like the character "Bob," the more I am willing to be seen as a fool or even a nut, the more I heal.
Everyone else's mileage may vary in following that approach. :)
Lots of movies have helped me in my healing and recovery; think it's great you started this thread. :) :) :)
The scene in THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION where Tim Roberts holds his hands up to the sky. He's just escaped from prison by climbing out of the swer pipe (eww) and is feeling the rain. "I can't do it god--you can" "Thank you God, I needed that" "God, I'm here. Tell me what to do.
Christmas Vacation... Where Chevy Chase sprays the non-stick stuff to the bottom of the sled -- I'm full of bright ideas LOL -- and I get about the same response hehehehe, that's me on the sled alright LOL....
