Please pray for my Sister-in-law Barbara - She drives a School bus & was hit this morning before 7 am by a drunk driver!!!!
By God's Grace there were no children on the bus - (She drives a special needs bus)
My brother-in-law is on his way to the hospital to find out if she is ok - they wouldn't give him any information other than she was banged up pretty bad & he needed to meet them at the hospital. We are waiting for news. Trusting that God is in control.
Also, I know that 2 others were brought to the hospital, but I don't know any other details.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts & prayers,
Rita

Sending prayers now for Barbara for HP to cover her and bring her through this safely. It makes my blood boil when I hear another person has been hurt and the victim of this disease. I'll keep her and family in thoughts and prayers today, keep us posted.

The Dr's cleared her for no head injuries - several broken ribs. She is having a lot of abdominal pains - so might be doing more testing to rule out internal injuries. Probably stay in ICU for observation overnight.
Her husband got more information from the authorities. The Driver hit her head-on. He was under the influence of some type of prescription pills. The pills were all over his vehicle, plus he tried to throw some of them away before the State Police arrived on the scene, but witnesses helped the Police find the evidence when they arrived.
Thanks for your support. The "G" family really appreciates it.
Peace, Rita

I am very sorry for the circumstances your familiy is under. I realize this is an extremly upsetting and traumatic event. Please know you are in my thoughts.
I know we can all see the bad in this news, and I am not immune; but let's don't forget the positive we see here too."
Wait a minute Wait a minute Wait a Minute!
Is there something I missed here???? There were no children on the bus. That's good. Some idiot drove drunk. That's bad. People were hurt. That's bad. It is a miracle people were not killed. That's bad. Can one help feeling a bit of outrage? No. That's good. Maybe some day we will get serious about keeping people off the roads who are not fit to drive. Then is when this nonsense will stop. Dragging the positive out of this event only serves to make me angrier!!

It's your life. Take no prisoners. You will have it your way.
Thanks again everyone. Just received another update - Barbara started having some pain and burning sensations in her head so a neurologist has been called in.
I also found out that the Impaired Driver also had a 7 yr old & a 12 yr old in the vehicle with him. The info I have been given is that the 7 yr old has stiches around his collar bone area and the 12 yr old has injuries to the liver - not sure to what degree - still testing.
Please pray for the Driver's family. His father came to Barbara's room, crying, saying he was so sorry for what had happened to her. Another family affected by this horrible disease. Parents and children - and as much as I don't even care to say it - even the Driver. Hopefully he will find the chair that some program of recovery is saving for him.
Until tomorrow -
Rita

My prayers are with your sister in law and the other innocent people involved. I too hope there is an empty seat in recovery awaiting the driver, but I have a feeling it may be an empty cell. How awful that he injured his children too. Keep us posted and please tell your SIL of all the prayers for her well being.

What a terrible tragedy . . . and I'm so grateful lives were spared as it happens too often someone loses their life when alcohol/drugs and driving is combined. Rita, I admire your well wishes, so to speak, for the perp in this situation. I think of his children and their mother, she is one of us, and I hope too she finds an empty chair in recovery and sets about protecting those children. It could have been any of us sitting in a hospital waiting room, knowing it was our A who caused untold pain and suffering for innocent others. My thoughts and prayers are with all as well . . .
I hope your sisterinlaw comes out ok! I'm so sorry. We never know when in the blink of an eye everything can change. How horrible that there were children involved. Definitely a cell in the driver's future for child endangerment at the very least! I hope everyone comes out of this ok!
I'm adding my prayers too. Your sister-in-law, the children, children's mother & the A b/c maybe this is his wake-up call. This is a fear I live with every day, that my A may hurt some innocent person. I guess I pray for us all. Hope
