The other week I was about to leave my drive to go out to dinner when my car died. That was okay, for whatever reason I wasn't suppose to go. So the next day I had it towed, only we had a wicked Northeastern sweep the south and when the tow truck arrived I saw him pull around something.... my mail box which had blown over. As he was pulling my car out of the drive the basketball hoop flipped over missing the car. I stood at my sink thinking, God forgive me cause I hope my neighbors house blows away in this, lol, this is my Ah's uncle -- and he wants to kill my cat. Anyhow, as I walked to the livingroom I looked at my son, but out of the window something was flapping around out there.... it's part of my house the ridge cap...hmmm it flies off -- now that is humorous to me, seeing as how I was just wishing my A's uncle's house would blow away. The wind just about distroys the trampoleen. But when all calms, I think, this is okay, I can do this. So my son and I hunt for the pieces of house that have flown away. .... they hit my AH's uncles boat, augh. Did I mention he hates me and my cat?
Okay so what has this got to do with anything? Lately HP has had me really stretching. You see my car wasn't fixed right and I had to stand up for myself and that isn't in my comfort zone....but it all worked out well. The wind damage caused me to address some other house issues so I had to deal with a contractor and a work crew .... again out of my comfort zone. But that turned out well too. These guys actually, on their own, cleaned the whole back side of my house just because (now my A said it was because they probably wanted a date -- roll my eyes) They did an awesome job.
But the best thing is I took my kids camping. Our Boy scout pack decided to do a weekend thing, only it looked like rain -- then it didn't. I was nervous about going w/out the A....don't ask me why, it's not like I've never camped before but I was worried. So I went ....and the rain came...It rained from 6 a.m. until 11 pm. Sat LOL -- We fished, it was great. We kept the fire going, and we stayed pretty warm --it was good until it really opened up. I remember about 3 pm saying the serenity prayer and sweeping water out of my tent, thanking God that my feet were still dry. But by 5 there wasn't anything dry for about two counties. We did find a shelter that had a fire pit which helped all of our spirits -- a little dryer and a little real food does a body good LOL. There were 12 kids & 7 adults and we made it without killing anyone. The next day in the beautiful sunshine we cooked 4 lbs of bacon, 2 dozen eggs, a couple of pounds of sausage and pancakes....I love camping. The coffee was good too. Everyone was saying how it wasn't that bad
My A visits the kids on Sunday so I called him to see if he'd just come there and let me throw all the stuff in the back of his truck since everything was soaked and he did. I over heard one of the men there telling my A, well if it wasn't for L and her good attitude then we wouldn't have made it. Wow, funny how other people view the same situation. The whole trip I was thinking program, acceptance, can't change the weather. Gratitude, my shoes were dry longer than I thought they'd have been and the fire never went out. And the serenity prayer....even said that on the way to the b-rooms in the middle of the night, now that was spookey. (they were in the north forty LOL)
So anyhow, I was realizing that there are so many things that I am able to do without the A. It's just life, and I'm getting better at living it. For a moment I thought HP/God, I hope you aren't preparing me to live without my A totally, I know he's progressing...but then I said, L, you can't even go there. Today is good and I am going to be alright. How cool is that.
I was laughing so hard a prof stopped me and said "What is it you're laughing at so hard?" I had to have him read it for himself I couldn't stop laughing. He didn't think it was as funny. But he got the jist.
What a gift you are giving your kids spending time in the woods with them. They will never be closer to their HP than they will out in the wilderness. (My opinion, )
You are a great mom!
Take care of you!
