I did it. I went this a.m. and everyone was sooo nice. I had a very surprising reaction tho--I was very emotional the whole time & felt like I was going to start crying at any minute. I've never been this way before-so emotional--esp. in public, with people I didn't know. Very strange. But I am going to keep going as I am determined to get healthy. I need peace. Thank U all for the encouragement. Hope
Wahoo!!!! - Congratulations to you - that is awesome - so glad you made it to that meeting.
So many cry for their first few meetings, sometimes because it is the first time they had a safe place to feel their emotions. Cry if you need it - I'm sure they understand.
Keep letting us know how you are doing!!

Good for you making it to the meeting! The first time I spoke at a meeting my voice started trembling and my face went bright red. I hate crying infront of people so I held it till the walk home. If I can get to a meeting tonight I think I will just let loose all over the place.

My regular f2f often gets to be a cry fest. We just figure its because many of us need the emotional release and that is one of the few safe places to let it out. We all need to once in a while. Not strange at all. Just another milestone in recovery. Just keep going. You'll get used to it.

To be honest,I don't think I've ever seen anyone get through their first meeting WITHOUT crying - there is a reason there are boxes of kleenex everywhere at the meeting, you know....
Good for you! When I first started going to f2f meetings I cried everytime I had to talk. I could barely finish what I was trying to say. Let it out in the meeting. You will get so much comfort from those who have been there...Gail
I realized when I went to my first meeting that it was the one place where I could cry and nobody judged me for letting my guard down. I was safe there among those lovely people, they understood the tears and that made me feel even safer. So if my eyes well up with tears I just let it all flow and I always feel better afterwards. I look at it as a gift to myself, letting the stress out.
