I'm new to your site & have been reading your posts for about a week. I think I reached the end of my rope about a week ago & just reading your posts to each other & your kindness & caring has helped more than you can know. I got the phone #s of 2 alanon groups in my area & am going to call tomorrow & find out when the next meeting is. I's scary & I just pray they will be as nice as you all are. Thanks, Hope

I have found so much strength at my home face to face meeting. I have found friends and a feeling of acceptance that I never had felt before in my life. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.... your friend in recovery, rosie
HI Hope, WELCOME HOME!!!You are at the right place to get help and improve the quality of your life and to grow and get stronger to make decision and how to deal with your A in a healthy way.People here are great, they are so supportive of each other and genuine .It feels good to know that you are not alone in this long and trying journey.I dont have f2f meetings in my area unfortunately so my only support is here , but it has helped me so much.I'm happy to hear you are taking the steps to get help for you, going to f2f is a great step, good luck.
I was scared going to my first meeting too! Walking trough the doors was really hard. Once I got there though I found a whole bunch of friends I just hadn't met yet. Friends that really understood what I was going through. Good luck. Keep Coming Back!
Welcome to MIP, (((((hopefully))))) its sooo great to hear you will be attending face to face (f2f) meetings. they're the greatest!!! This board is wonderful for posting and for reading..... the chat room is another suggestion to visit. wonderful people (ppl)
Please ask your local meeting place/s about a starter kit and/or reading brochures/ literature... may have some ideas for you along the lines of books to read that will be most helpful for ya too. Recovery bookstore on this website... , find books at amazon.com and may be at your local library.
This is indeed a very caring place. I am glad you are here. I have been at the end of my rope for a long long time. Without this place and faith I think I would have gone under.
Hi, I am new to this forum and have been reading the posts and find them very helpful. I live in a small isolated northern town with one meeting lead by some great people but who have "recovered" or who like to have the meetings run their way and talk about their past all the time, I have chaired a few meetings and made some suggestions such as talking about haow alanon helps them in heir everyday life now that their significant others have sobered up. We just seem to keep going back to the same old topics.Any suggestions? I don't mean to sound like I am blaming , maybe I'm not assertive enough, who knows?
I just don't seem to get anything out of the meetings.
