I am new to this forum. My husband is a recovering addict and alcoholic. He has just returned from rehab. It is driving me crazy because he wants the car to go and apply for a job. It seems like he hasn't taken the time to "look around" at home it's all I got, I got.
I'm glad you're here! While he was in rehab, odds are you were introduced to al anon, and if you weren't introduced there, you're being introduced here. Go to the main web site www.alanon-alateen.org and find some meetings near you and start going to them. That way, while he's doing his thing (I promise you that he's trying to make up for lost time right now!) you can do yours. The people at the meetings will understand exactly where you're at and welcome you with open arms. Additionally, don't worry about the "stuff" he's doing right now. What he's doing is nothing about you; it's about him obsessing about how out of control his life is and how scared he is to be out of rehab and sober. If you go to the meetings, you'll find the support you need to stay sane. Keep coming back!
I am truly afraid I will not remain sane. I donot want to let him use my car daily and I end up walking, everybody knowing what he is doing and I am the only one who is blind to the fact.
I totally understand the car issue. I have a tough time allowing my AH to drive my car even to the grocery store for a few minutes, much less all over town. I do not know anything about your relationship and don't want to say the wrong thing here....so I just wanted to give you a big hug.
If it is truly an issue for you, have you talked about it with him? Maybe you could work out a schedule where you are not always doing the walking around. If it is your car solely, then just explain how uncomfortable you are with him taking it. See if he would like a "chaffeur" maybe.
Go to some open meetings with him if you can, they can be extremely helpful in understanding your a. Also yes, do find some al-anon meetings to go to.
Glad you made it here. There are some wonderful people here, who have helped so many of us out!!
