My son just turned 19 this past weekend. He's been a struggling A for many years already. He's out in the world on his own. There is nothing I can do for him. I wrote this little poem a few days after his birthday and I'd like to share it.
A Mother's Broken Heart
A scrap book full of sadness, brings on a loathsome reveree. Times of struggle through your youth, forshadowing future hardship in adulthood. But I can never let go of love or hope for change that will probably never come.
So around and around we come each time another drop of blood spilt with tears, As my heart breaks again and again and again.
Thanks for your share. I worry about my oldest son. He struggles, compares himself with his brothers, calls himself a loser, and shuts down. I say the serentiy prayer and know that I will pray for a miracle and let go but I will always love him with all of my heart.
Thanks for sharing your poem. I too, feel your pain, as the mother of a 20 year old son who has struggled with addiction. I think the one thing that has seen me through this darkness, has been my faith in God and the hope......There is always hope. I have seen miracles. We must never lose sight of the hope. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Thank you for the wonderful share. My A son is nearing 18 and is in soo deep...but for right now, it seems to be where he wants to be. It is so hard to watch your child go through this...I have to remind myself that he has his own HP and tend to mine. I have done what I can and it is his to carry. It is good to know that their is support out there! Thank you so much for sharing that with us.
