My 4 year old LOVES getting doggie kisses....from the dog. Besides the grossness factor is there any reason that she should not get sloppy doggie kisses all over her face? Any diseases? She just cracks up which ofcourse makes us all giggle......
Now my dogs are fond of eating chicken, geese and goat poo and I try to remember that when they kiss me but mostly I forget. I haven't even had a cold for two years. I think your little sweetie is more at risk just being around other kids as far as bugs go.
My mother has a treasured picture of me at five months old with Tiger, the poodle they had. My mouth is wide open and Tiger is licking inside! Arrgh! It's almost worse than a naked picture of me she has showing how fat I was then, too :D.
If you can put a stop to it, it would be for the better. Dogs mouths are not as clean as we think they are. Children can pick up rota virus from dogs from them licking their behinds. It's from fecal matter and can be transferred. Rarely they can get worms but children can get them from dogs saliva. Have your daughter kiss your doggie up towards his cheek or head or even on the ears but try and stay away from the dogs saliva. Good luck. Here is a great site to get more dog info on. www.chatgoldens.com It's a wonderful site with loads of information. It's my other home site.
dogs mouths carry a lot more different germs than a human.
Plus I would not like a child being that familiar with putting her face in a dogs face. I NEVER allowed my kids to do that. I have a scar from getting bit that way as does a very good friend of mine.
We never know what might put a dog off, and there goes your babies face, not worth it.
She is not going to know that she cannot do that with just any animal.
I have a habit of kissing an animal I pick up, dumb. lol I mean lizards, frogs what ever. I had a pet nutria and got some icky bacterial thing and had to go on meds...oops.
