Search Question - finding specific posts

A couple of members had asked me to look at some recent (inappropriate) posts from a new person, and it looks like they have now been taken care of...

A question re: searching....

When I want to find posts by a specific person, I go to Search, Advanced Search, and then enter the person's name??  Is this correct?  I don't seem to find any results when I do it this way (in this particular case those posts may have been deleted, but I struggled with this once before).  Am I following the right steps to find specific author's posts?

Hello Tom,

I do the same when I search for a member or their posts, and find it’s a hit or miss 
Although, there is another way to search for a user, at the bottom of this page is “sorted by” then choose from the drop down menu “Started By” and that will list all users in alphabetical order. However, if they have been banned/deleted (as in their account info) I believe they won't show either.

Sorry, I realize this does not answer your question, only sharing what I do as well

Sounds considerably better than what I do, which is to randomly cast around, muttering "I know I saw it here somewhere..." under my breath.

Canadianguy....This is also how I get it...But remember you need to have the correct nick and number if they have one...

Sometimes when I'm on this board I laugh out Loud... And tonight was one of them times....

Tom,

I used to be able to find everything just like you posted; however, since about two months (or so) ago when one member was concerned and wanted all her posts removed due to "searching," I think that that option has been removed for all of us for random searching.

As others said though, if you click on someone's profile, you can see what they posted where, when etc.
