Concentrating on my happy life

There are many of us who are living with active As and who struggle each day just to get through it. There are those of us whose As are sober...for which we are thankful...but who complain still, wondering whether "sober" is better. We have one life kiddies. It is important that we spend that life rejoicing. FOllowing AlAnon teachings, we can all get there. But constant whining and moaning is not the path that leads to serenity. Seems to me serenity is attained by making the decisions we need to make, setting the boundaries we need to set, and courageously keeping to those decisions and boundaries. If you must remove yourself from harm's way, do so without guilt and fear. If you choose to live with the A no matter what, do so with a happy heart. If you cannot locate your "happy heart" living with the A, you are in the wrong place.

I think we should concentrate more on what brings joy into our lives than be constantly mired in misery. If there is no joy in your life, then just compare it with some other lives on this earth. Believe me, there are people on this planet whose circumstances leave them no hope of finding peace or happiness.

I love to bring you something to smile about. Here's something to make you smile...

Unless you hate kittens. Now WHO could hate kittens??????

I am not trying to lead us away from the intent of this board, and I am certainly not without compassion.  I recognize that some people need to vent their resentments and anger.  And this is the place to do it.  But lightening it up once in a while is a good thing.

I couldn't agree with you more.  Thanks for the link.  You are right.  Who could hate kittens???

I love the "if you cannot find your "happy heart" you are not in the right place."  And I think that is just fine for some folks, as long as they realize that they are choosing to be there.

It is wonderful to have this place to come to and bitch.  I just want to not do it or dwell on those things to often.  I could then lose my "happy heart"

Love ya,
lilms

I agree to a point Diva. I know in my misery I grew and learned alot and without it I would not be where I am today. You are right in the aspect that we do need to sit back sometimes and realize that life is still good sometimes.
There are times I read things on this board and I really can not understand why they are still there and of course we can not be nosey. I just know without a shadow of a doubt that if I did not have children with my ah I would NOT be with him. I would have walked a long time ago. I'm not ugly, I don't need money, no one can make me better but myself and no person is worth MY self worth, know what I mean? Those are the people I think need to find happiness and get out of the darkness. I know all about love but situations like those are not love. I'm still learning though. Good post D!

I absolutely agree.
It's OK to feel crappy/bitchy/let down etc, but then do your level best to find your way up and out of the funk.  Alanon tells us to do the next right thing.  We can do the same with thinking and think the next good thought.

We are the container within which all things exist,  the bridge between the creations of our inner and outer worlds, and the mirror that shows us what we have created.

(((((((Diva)))))))),

Always a ray of sunshine, no matter what the weather.    You said it so well.  Happiness comes from within.  There has to be joy in your heart no matter how small.  It has been raining this morning with threat of minor flooding.  But now as I get ready to go to work, the rain has turned to snow and it is beautiful.  The roads are slick, and I've got a ton of work to do, but who cares?  There is nothing I love more than the sight of falling snow.  Thanks for the reminder to live happy, joyous and free.  Pipers Kitty and I enjoyed the cute kitties.  But Pipers thinks she's still the cat's meow!

Love and blessings to you and your family.  Kiss the critters for me!

Live strong,
Karilynn & Pipers Kitty
