Could really use some prayers for my sweet loving man. It looks like he has come down with another case of viral menigitis. He has had it 3 other times, the last one over 4 years ago in which he barely made it back alive. He is exhibiting all the classic signs. So far we have not gone to the ER (who wants to have a spinal tap?) because his back pain seems to be lessening as well as his fever and headache. I called the doctor and was told to keep a close eye on him. I took today and tomorrow off so that I can be here for him. Don't worry we won't take any foolish chances. I have his med sheet, health care proxy and everything ready to go.
My heartbreaks when I think of hard this man has worked to stay sober. He just finished nursing me back from a 3 day flu. We were finally getting somewhere with his impending surgery for his foot. He was just starting to feel better when WHAM! I know HP has a plan for us, but I sometimes wonder what it is. I'm suppose to believe that we are never given more than we can handle, but I would like us to catch a break sometimes. I'm so tired of seeing him in pain from his feet or stomach and now this. It will mean another delay in his foot surgery which was already pushed into April. I know how ready he is to get that started. It means 3-4 months in bed with a device (Robert Taylor spatial device) on his foot. Then once they correct that foot, they will do the other. So we are talking long recuperations for both operations as well as his menigitis.
So if you could keep us (more him than me folks) in your prayers it would be greatly appreciated. I called his Dad and his church will keep him on the prayer list. That's a great comfort. For now I'm going to try and get some rest with him. I know I will need my strength in order to take care of him and me. Thanks for all your love and support.
Love and blessings to you all.
Live strong, Karilynn & Pipers Kitty

I can relate , when my husb first sobered up he was so sick one thing after another got to the point where we didn't know if he was going to make it either , and ya think finally sober and then this ? they do such damage to their physical well being that sobriety causes all kinds of problems when not medicating with booze . My husb made it , just remember to take care of you too . good luck Louise
I'll be hoping he somehow blows this off before having to be admitted. There's hope. At least he's healthier this time. I think sometimes stuff just happens w/o being in the "big plan". In any case, I wish him well.
Love ya, Christy

My deepest prayers for you and your husband's health are said right now. I hope he begins to feel better and healthier and you both begin to enjoy life again. I know how hard it is to see your loved one struggle to stay sober, then to have health problems in sobriety and to deal with that also! Love and prayers,
