I haven't posted in awhile. My AHsober keeps his distance. When he does call it of course is all about him - what he has done, what he wants to buy, how busy he is helping everyone else. We are taking a trip tomorrow to see our son in the military. Long trip in the car but I think that our son needs us both. I did ask my AH to leave his cell phone at home. I told him that anyone who calls my cell phone he knows or is related to (his sons). Whoever calls his cell phone doesn't know me (because he won't introduce them to me or he pretends he isn't with his wife). I just told him that if it was so important to stay in touch that I would go see our son by myself. He said let me think about it and I will get back to you tonight. I said no way, tell me now, or I am going alone. He said ok, that he would leave it home. This sounds a little manipulative but it is just too painful listening to him. I feel like I needed to stand up for myself.
Please HP give me the words to say on this trip so I can stay out of my disease and not be drawn into his. Let me be silent for once. Thanks for listening.
Good for you for standing up for yourself. I can completely relate to your request about the cell phone. My A b/f is guilty of the same behavior and it is hurtful, I agree. I am sending you all my best wishes for a peaceful trip. Maybe you should bring a walkman or cdman with a favorite (relaxing) cd. That way if things get heated, you can close your eyes and zone out. Maybe bring a couple cds:)!
