I just wanted to say that I'm still here, although I've not been into chat very much lately. I'm working on ME, working on taking care of MY future, which means that changes are happening. I'm in the middle of making some serious life changes, regarding my relationship with my AH. I made a vow at the beginning of the year (can you say New Year's resolution? LOL) that this year I'm doing for ME, that I'm not going to just sit by and wait for sanity to happen...I'm going to do my part to MAKE it happen.
I am reading the messages on the board and keeping up with you all. Thanks to Alanon and you wonderful people I'm able to know how to take care of myself. Just be patient with me while I reinvent myself!
Good for you. Thanks for writing this post, it's a reminder for me to do just as you're doing, moving on with my life and keeping the focus on me every day and not waiting for someone else to change so that I can. For me that takes courage and the scary part is what my changing is going to lead too. But, life is too short.
I completely understand about the scary part being what the change might lead to. I made that decision and it will affect my marriage. That is truly scary, but it's not as scary as living with doubt, fear, and uncertainty, in my opinion. I am using the Serenity Prayer daily, or more often as needed, to help me make the choices I'm making. I've been praying for over 3 years now for the guidance and courage to forgive and to get on with our marriage, but sometimes the answer comes in a different form than what we think. I have looked outside the "box" and am seeing answers that I never really expected to see. They do look doable...scary, but doable.
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." AMEN
Nice to see your sweet face. I'm with you, change is scary. I'm a Taurus and by nature we don't like change. But you're right, it's healthy. Whatever happens, we're here for you. We're going through some changes here as well. Hubby's surgery should be happening in March and who knows what that will mean. But it can only be positive in the long run. Short term it might mean some readjustments (but we'll know more in March) and alternative living arrangements. I guess the only thing that gets me through is staying in the present and be as positive as possible. Coming here, reminding myself of what I have and trying to give back, helps. I'll keep you in my prayers as usual. Call me if you need to. Remember to be extra good to yourself, you deserve it.
Love and blessings to you and your family.
Live strong, Karilynn, Hubby and Pipers Kitty (who has made the change NOT to go near a garage)

What a great post. I am trying to take actions regardless of what the A does. I am moving slowly but I see change. Thanks for reminding me of the effort I need to make.
