Hello everyone. I know it has been a while since I have posted. It was not intentional. I lost access to my internet, and now that I am back on I am very happy.
I have much to tell. My A has had to move out and is staying in a hotel down the street so it gives me a lot more space, but I really miss having someone here. I guess I will get used to it.
I can tell from what I see and my good A friend who knows a lot of wisdom on program that his disease is getting worse. I do not know what will happen next, but I do know that today I am ok.
I am supposed to go see him today. He was going to come by last night but I could hear on the phone he was in no sober shape to handle me and my issues and I didn't need the stress. When he called back, I admitted I was very tired and needed rest. He still called again. This time, I took my phone and put it on the lowest ringer so I could sleep. I know he loves me, but I think he needs a lot of work on his own. I did end up playing an AA speaker CD for him. Not too much said by him after. He knows what he needs to do. He said he has been to AA "classes" before, but I think he was forced. He has to do this one on his decision. Like I said a lot has happened. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers
I have decided to attempt to quit smoking cigarettes around the 21st. I am due to have a hysterectomy on Feb 28, and I am scared. They are only taking out the uterus and cervix, leaving the tubes (which are cut, tied and burnt, as well as my ovaries). Anyone been thru a surgery like this? I need some comfort.
Take care all and please post back. I am ready to get back into the swing of things, so-to-speak.
Thanks all for your help. and for being there.

(((htc))) glad to see you are back. Sounds like you are doing a good job taking care of yourself! Hey, at least your A is willing to talk about being an A. Mine does not, so I don't mention it. It's like the big elephant in the room no one can talk about. But we tiptoe around it, so as not to upset it or the elephant will go nuts and destroy what is left of our home. Good luck with the surgery. Love in Recovery, Becky1
Welcome back....you seem very calm in your typing I must say. My husband of over 30 years left me to drink,,,and it is very hard at first, and it seems I even missed the chaos of it for a time. This is very natural at first, but as your spirit and mind start healing with the help of alanon , you will find it "will" get easier. I found that keeping busy, taking on activities that I used to like, going out, visiting with friends and family, things started to get better, not over night but it takes time to heal from all that insanity. As for the hystorectomy many women have had it done through the ages, and I am sure you will be just fine. At this time please take care of YOU, and focus on YOU, and do what it takes to make you happy, because afterall if you dont take care of yourself no one else will!
There is nothing to fear. Fear won't help, just add stress.....now, I need to take my own advice. I am too have one of those hyst. done. You can share your experience with me and your experience I am sure will help me. So, you really will be helping others...lol.
Good luck with the surgery! Speedy recovery prayers coming your way! Ziggy
I haven't had a hysterectomy, but I have had other surgury, so I have one piece of advice. There are resources, though the hospital, and through your doctor, and social services, and all sorts of other places - use them! If there is a cart going around with apple juice, take some; if someone offers to rub your back, let them; if they ask if you'd like another pillow, say yes; when they ask "Have you any worries?", tell them. For this short time, you get a chance for someone to take care of you for a bit - allow it.
Good to see you again. Best wishes for your upcoming surgery. Don't worry, you're going to be fine! I had a complete hysterectomy back in '98 and I did fine. There is life afterwards and once the healing is done, you won't miss certain things... know what I mean? LOL. About the smoking, it's great that you have a plan to stop! You won't get any healthier if you keep that up! I quit 5 times before getting it right, but I've been quit now for about 11 years! I'm thrilled to be free of that habit. It no longer controls me! I'm in control of it. It's been such a freeing experience, especially since being a smoker is a hard thing to do these days. Think of the money you'll save too!! Not to mention how much better it is for your health. Take care and try not to worry too much. This is a very common surgery. You'll be fine! Please keep us posted on how you are doing as soon as you feel up to writing!
