I got this poem from one of my very bestest friends and it's framed and on my livingroom wall so I can remind myself daily.

They may see the good you do
as self serving.
Continue to do good.

They may see your generosity
as grandstanding
Continue to be generous.

They may see your warm and
caring nature as a weakness
Continue to be warm and caring.

For you see, in the end,
it is between you and God,
It never was between and
and them anyway.

I love it!  thanks..  I believe it was derived from writings from Mother Teresa.  I have a similar  laminated writing that goes like this:

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered:
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives:
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies:
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you:
Be honest nd frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight:
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous:
Be happpy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow:

It reminds me of who and what I aspire to be, and for what purpose.  The purpose is...For me.

hi maria :)

i know being in alanon there are so many of us with kind and loving hearts. unfortunately we forget this sometimes when we are faced with difficult people and life's adversities. the writing you posted reminds us to not forget who we are when negativity stikes. and as for the people pleaser i am, it reminds me that it's my HP i want to please first and foremost.
