newbie question

A quick question here...is this the place too for family members of prescription drug abusers? My husband hasn't had a drink for almost 25 years (although he is an alcoholic). I just don't want to bring up anything that isn't discussed here. Thanks for the info - and sorry if I brought up something in the wrong place.

thanks.

((((Maxofoot))))  <=== these are hugs by the way.

Welcome to MIP.  Right place?  If you have been affected by a friend or relatives addiction, then the symptoms and reactions are largely the same.  Remember this place and this program is for you.  The work you do will be for you, to help you.

So in my opinion... yes, you are in the right place.  You will hear many here who's qualifyers are battling addictions to drugs and/or alcohol.

If there is an Al-Anon meeting in your local area, I would suggest you give that a try too.

You are amoung friends here.

Take care of you!

Welcome,

Hope you find understanding here.

I just found the site a week ago, and I'm finding it most helpful.

Best wishes,
Barbs.

Probably, in  a perfect world, there would be a Nar-anon or something specifically for your problem right down the street. As it is, alanon is mostly all we've got - many many of us have loved ones battling different addictions. Alcohol is just one of them. In any case YOUR program is the same - keep the focus on you, detach with love, keep your own side of the street clean and stop enabling your loved one.  That's should be enough to keep you busy for a while! Welcome, this is indeed the right place for you.

My A takes those prescriptions religiously for about 9 years. He knows his liver is shot and there are other options....I would say yeah, this is the place for you
Welcome

Yep--this is the place.  At least it is for me.  My husband is addicted to perscription drugs.  I used to think that was differnt than other addictions.  I have come to find out it is not.  It is the same thing just n a different form.  This forum has saved me over the last few months. So welcome home.  I hope that you can find a little sanity in this place.

Moxie,

A lot of times addictions are both to alcohol and perscription drugs. I've gotten a lot of support here. My ex is addicted to both, although it took me awhile to realize that he was using again.  If his addiction(s) are affecting you, I hope you will stick around and get the help you need through Alanon.

Glad you came!

ET
