I don't want to jump to conclusions, but things are looking up. After spending a week with my now unemployed A (AND NO CAR!!) I hit the streets and started filling out job applications; I have been out of work for a while and all my references are out of state. The economy here is pretty slow so I was applying for minimum wage part time jobs (I still have to be available for the kids) that are usually reserved for teenagers. I don't have a drivers liscence so I had to keep reminding myself not to find a job where my husband has to drive me. I can't depend on him. And there are no buses here to speak of.
Anyway, when nobody called me back I applied for a CNA course at a nursing home. It is expensive but they will hire me after 4 days of classes and wave the class fee if I do 12 months (sounds like a prison sentence but oh well). The place is about 2 miles away, I can walk there or maybe get a bike. After I have the certificate, I can work in the hospital for a little more money. Also, I want to apply to the nursing program at the college and the CNA helps as it is a very competitive enrollment.
After I figured that great plan I got a call back from a cute little coffee shop walking distance from my house, looking for morning hours which is good for me. So now I have a choice which is so much better than no choice like I had before.
Part of me is scared/annoyed that my A will sit on his rump all day drinking but what am I going to do about it? When I'm at home he just hides it or goes dry untill he thinks I think it's late enough to drink which is still too early but I digress.
I feel really good right now. I walked to the library from the nursing home and it is really nice and sunny out. Someone next to me really smells like pot.
Bye for now!
Jamie
