The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
Last Friday I attended my first face to face Al-Anon meeting and today I am going to my first Codependency meeting.
After just "sitting still" for so long, I feel that I am finally taking some positive steps forward and there is a peace in my spirit that I haven't felt in quite awhile. I know that this is just the beginning of my journey to healing and wholeness and I expect some "potholes' along the way...but it really feels good to be moving forward again and to be doing something for me for a change. All my life I have nurtured others.....now it's time to nurture myself.
Adjusting my attitude and letting go and letting God have my AH has made a difference already. As I have let go of his responsibilities and negative attitudes towards his drinking, he has actually cut down on the amount and has heard my boundary that I only want to discuss "our issues" when he is sober. This is a first step too, and I know there will be "potholes" along this path too....but no more will I feel that I fell into a giant pothole and there is no way out. I have choices and I'm finally making them. Thanks for giving me the Courage God!
Instead of feeling Wilted....I'm actually feeling there's some blooming taking place in me these days!
I'm proud of you for doing for yourself. It is real courage to face your "hangups" and face them. CoDep groups are soo underrated!!! I hope you find the help you need there.
brightest blessings cj

Your post reminded me of one of my fav lines I found in our literature along time ago . if we are not ready to leave our marriages do not want to leave . BLOOM WHERE YOUR PLANTED. With the help of al anon and the people in it that was possible for me , still here 18 yrs sobriety in our home . Has it always been easy ? NO but worth it yes . goodluck Becomming the person I want to be is a win win situation for all of us , with or with out him I can become who i was meant to be.
The CODA meeting was just as wonderful as the Al-Anon was last Friday! For me the two meetings tie in with one another and both are wonderful for the areas of my life that I need to find healing and wholeness in. It's amazing how one little step in a positive direction can make your whole world a better place to be in and affect others in your world in a positive way too.
I'm just beginning the journey to find myself, but I can see it's going to be a wonderful adventure and I'm going to steer clear of the "potholds" as much as possible.
i like this....."whatever you can do or dream you can do, begin it." j wolfgang von goethe. it helps puts things * my life into A positive perspective. i realize i just need to believe in my self...., i can achieve what i choose to. even if its in babysteps (.. so as to not step in a pothole., lol!) it just takes the first step and i'm on "my" way. One Day at a Time. You can Do it. Take care of You. Good for You!! Keep Moving Forward ~ Keep Looking uP ~ Keep Coming Back. ((((((Babs))))))
