Oh WOW!!! I just found out I had a really lucky escape.
I met with some friends yesterday, who knew I was seeing Mr New Guy on his return from Belgium. They were really interested to know how things had gone, since they were so excited that I had finally plunged into the water again and risked dating. I told them what happened and what my fears were about this guy,and the outcome. They all sat and listened, then one of my friends put her arm round me and said" Oh Chris,I'm SO happy that you haven't fallen for this guy. Do you realise what a lucky escape you have had? I'm SO proud of you kiddo."
I was a bit surprised by this because she was really encouraging me to actually go for it. This man is a larger than life character. I have since learned he is amazingly rich, owns several properties, drives a brand new Aston Martin, has two boats and spends money like water!!( I figured he was fairly comfortable since he didn't flinch at the restaurant bills, and took me to some really posh places......................way outa MY league, since I'm penniless and struggle to afford a kebab!! LOL) It seems that, now I find that he is better known locally than I realised( I don't get out much.) This is a smallish place, and he has been coming here for three years and employs a lot of the locals renovating his luxury boats. I knew he was the boss of a couple of my friends who actually introduced us at a party before Christmas, but I hadn't really understood just how rich he was.
The drinking was enough to put me off the idea of a relationship. END OF. He turned out to be far more keen than me to cement a full relationship and still says it's what he really wants. I've told him NO WAY thanks, but NO THANKS.
I've now been told that he is not just into alcohol in a big way. I've just learned that he is heavily into COCAINE!!!!!!!!!!!My friends husband was at the business dinner I told you all about in my last post and got chatting to an engineer from UK over here to do some work for my date, who had also had a bit too much to drink and confided to my friends hubby that date was a great guy and a bit on the "mad" side with his drinking( apparently one to one and a half bottles of neat vodka is pretty normal for him DAILY........small wonder two or three bottles of wine didn't seem to me to be affecting him ) and that he was very heavily into cocaine too and had asked him if he could get hold of some for him while he was over here, since he was finding it hard to concentrate on staying focussed without it??????????????? He has a daily habit costing him more per day than I have to spend on LIVING for a whole month or more.
OH YIKES!!!!
One of my friends was very philosophical about it. Said " Well,Let's face it ,everything comes at a price.Put up with it and just enjoy the priviledged lifestyle Chris!"
PRIVILEDGED?????????????????? SHEESH.......................I've got my NIKE running shoes on and am heading for the hills. Move over Road Runner............I'm passing!!!!!
Love to you all from Chris(poor, humble and nibbling on a cheap kebab.........but blissfully happy and serene and staying that way!!!!!)
It's taken me a year to pluck up the courage to respond when asked out and I was, understandably quite nervous. I am so glad that I have continued to work my programme for ME. (My A said I wouldn't need Alanon now he was gone)
It's a great programme and certainly not easy......simple yes.....but easy? NOT.
Developing my relationship with my HP has been paramount in learning about ME and trusting my own instincts. Yes....those flags have always been there. Previously I was ignoring them.....now I am on RED ALERT and my confidence is growing daily.
I am learning about who I am and learning to love and respect myself.
I am learning to recognise unacceptable behaviour for what it is.
I am learning that having such wonderful tools is no damned good unless I actually USE them.
I am learning ASSERTIVENESS..................how to take care of ME!

WAY TO GO GIRLFRIEND! They always say trust your instinct. You did and you dodged a bullet. You are doing so well with your program. I am so proud of you. Kiss that sweet grandson of yours. I'm sure his misses his very, very young grandma. Give Ruby extra scratches for me. I miss chatting with you.
Love and blessings to you and your family.
Live strong, Karilynn & Pipers Kitty
