Living in the day.

Last year I posted a few topics on this forum as I was suffering from anxiety.  I attended a few alanon meetings last year and they were great. I attended alateen at the age of 17 yrs I tend to turn to alanon when nervous or anxious.  Overall, I work my daily program and have great faith in my higher power.  I miss my meetings though, and through family circumstances have been unable to attend.  Out of the blue I received an email from Miracles in Progress and I have just found this site again.  I will now use this site and this will aid my recovery.  I have a father and 2 brothers who are alcoholics and I am in contact with them daily.  One brother is attending AA, one is depressed and my father is going downhill recently.  I must live in the day as I am attending a lyr course in teacher training - ending June 2007.  I trust that my higher power will help me see this through, but at times I am scared of not passing as I am so near.  I rely on my dad to get the kids in and sometimes out of school, my husband works shifts and if my dad puts them in then my husband gets them out and vice-versa.  My mum uses me as a crutch as I am the only girl and at times it is hard to put up with her constant negativity, but we are close and I love her very much.  Sorry for the rant, good to be back.

 Welcome back  (((annmarie)))

We have a lot in common....I, too, have popped in and out of Al Anon, but have recently discovered that this is the Family that will truly support ME and it feels wonderful to keep coming back.... to this board, and to the face to face meetings.  As a result, I am getting to a more peaceful place....aaah, serenity!!

And....I am also back in school and juggling many balls, just like you.  What I have recognized lately is, that for me to truly GROW....in this program....*spiritually*.....I need to make MYSELF the priority.  I have focused on handing my life over to HP and suddenly....out of the blue....I am seeing the support and guidance that I need to complete this important goal of mine  (I graduate in June too!)  For the first time ever, I am focusing on "my purpose," and have stopped trying to take care of everyone else.  I have decided that the challenges in my life could become an obstacle to my spiritual growth or an opportunity.  And, it feels wonderful to seize the opportunities that Al Anon offers...because I am important, too!  HP is showing me that.

YOU are important annmarie!!  Rely on your HP and KEEP COMING BACK!

Love, DeeDee

Welcome back............I know for me even missing a weekly meeting, I can so easily revert back to to the stinking thinking triggering anxiety/worry/hopelessness and all the other emotions one can think of. Alanon keeps me focussed on myself and each week I am renewed with "hope". It seems that we all end back at square one time after time, but thanks to this program we can start moving forward again and again.
