I needed to ask if meetings are sometimes cancelled? This morning's meeting wasn't starting a half hour after the scheduled time so I asked the chat room if there was going to be one and someone called Anonymous (name removed) said he/she didn't know. There were five people in the room, but I guess Sunday mornings are like that?
I needed to check with someone on this since I've also been having trouble with being blocked from entering this chat room, where a message comes up saying, "On behalf of Chat4all, all the 7 staffmembers wish all the spammers a nice day in Hell. May your days be infernal...erm...eternal." (I've got a copy of the whole message)
No one else in the chat room has seen this message or had it block them from entering, so I'm thinking it's coming from an alcoholic, from Facebook, who's mad at me and has been hacking me a lot.
I'd appreciate any feedback because law enforcement's become involved concerning this person.

First off if there is no chairperson in the chat room when it is time for the meeting to begin those present can start the meeting without them.
If you will look at the FAQ's post at the top of this message board under the part entitled:
MESSAGE BOARD AND CHAT ROOM
Number 13 gives the basic's needed to get the meeting going.
Are you using MIRC to access the chat room or going in with java?
I have seen the "infernal hell" message before when I was coming into the room from mirc. I believe it to be a legit message from the chat4all folks who are not part of this message board or MIP. MIP's chatroom just using their services for hosting the chat room.
There are instructions in the faq's also about what to do if you get banned or appear to be banned, accidentally. Sometimes installing the latest version of Java on your pc can fix the problem.
As an Operator in our MIP Alanon Chat Room, and also as a Moderator on our Message Board - I can say that everything that Service Workers do on our website are 'volunteer' based. We do it for many reasons, and there are many who do offer their time to help others in our program.
If a meeting is not held as scheduled...give a few minutes leeway. Most of the schedules for Morning and Nightly meetings have chairpersons chairing the meetings..but we are only human - things do happen in our lives that warrant our attention otherwise.
Anyone can 'chair' a meeting - all it takes is two people. One can begin a meeting with the Serenity Prayer, and end it the same way...to indicate the opening and closing of a meeting. They are run online very similar to a face to face meeting. No-Cross Talk, Please Welcome and Thank Sharers, No advice, No discussions on personal religious/politics or such and with compassion, kindness and respect as we would wish from others for ourselves.
The "Infernal' Message you received is as David mentioned....it is a 'note' from Chat4All Server People, NOT from Miracles in Progress or has any affiliation from Alanon or any of the other rooms or message boards of Miracles in Progress. The three C's apply to this one as well as the meeting that was not held in a standard protocol you are familiar with.
I hope this clears up your questions, and I also hope that you do find our meetings and our chat room a comforting, supporting and enjoyable place to be!
